PIR was awesome! Running to get my hug, didn't see anyone else in the hall.  Just my sailor!  It was great hanging out in our suite and hearing his boot camp stories, but so sad at the airport the next morning to see him off to Monterey, California for A school.

Yeah--went to a concert and we raised over $3,000 and 8 truckloads of goodies for the St. Louis USO.

Karen - congrats!

DebbieD - MayPort-I'm interested in hearing how your son likes it - my son is in A school and has mentioned that as a place he's interested in.  Keep me updated.  Thanks.

HooYah, Karen!  Take lots of tissue... all of us will tell you that when that door rolls up and your sailor marches in, your chest feels like bursting with pride.  There aren't words to describe it.  Be sure to hug that young man for us, too! k.

Matt,

Indeed, I remember you... CMDR Ridings (head of NOSC) told me of your newly-discovered battle.  I'm so glad you've joined and offered us an update.  Please let us know what your family might need now or in the coming months.  I'm sure many of us will have you in our thoughts and prayers.  Hugs! k.

Hi everyone.  I just joined tonight.  I am from Anderson about 45 minutes north east of Indianapolis.  My son graduated in May 2011 from BC and July from A-school in Great Lakes.  He reported to  MayPort (Jacksonville, Florida) August 1 and was deployed within two weeks.  He is currently deployed on the USS DeWert, a frigate.
