Becky, I'm so glad you enjoyed yourself!  I, too, had a great time meeting Navy moms from outside the Indy area, such as yourself, and all the Naval personnel.

This morning the wreath laying at the USS Indianapolis Memorial was quite moving.  Hearing again the story of the tragedy, plus the "2 Bell" ceremony and the Navy Hymn were especially touching.  It was also meaningful to pay respects to the three Indianapolis survivors who attended... Pat & I estimated their ages as at LEAST 85-86 years old!

Tonight was so much FUN!  The baseball outfield was lined with good-looking sailors in their dress whites and it was wonderful to see the crowd cheer them off the field.  The Leap Frogs were awesome carrying in the American flag and the official game ball.  My daughter got her picture made with the entire crew of SEALs which put her "over the moon!"

TOMORROW (Wednesday):  Serving "MOM-MADE" lunch to 30 sailors as they build a Habitat for Humanity home!

Can someone post a couple of pix here?  Was the Admiral invited to Saturday's packing party?

Kaye,

Thank You!!  It was a wonderful evening. We had the best time visiting with the Admiral, sailors and other Navy parents. Food was perfect. We really hope you do this again! We are really looking forward to Saturday!  Thank you. Thank you.

I felt the Navy Week Dinner tonight was wonderful!  It was very well-attended, the sailors enjoyed the food (the restaurant had to bring in second pans), and I know the moms loved dining with the sailors.  Admiral Harnitchek was easy-going (since I was late, as usual) and fun to talk with.  Can't wait to see everyone again at the remaining events this week!  Thanks to everyone who volunteered to pay for sailor meals and are helping with food on Wednesday and Saturday!!!  I can't do these things by myself - I have GREAT moms to work with!!! Hugs, k.

Ive been to avon before. Alot of pride and tears just very emotional.  I had a bunch of napkins and went through them all.  I cried just listening to them say the sailors creed.  They all say it with so much respect and pride it gives you chills.

Tina, CONGRATULATIONS on contributing a brand new sailor to the US Navy!  (How many tissues did you use?!)  There aren't words to describe the pride that we know filled your heart as you saw Alex march by.

I'm from Avon (just west of Indy).  Looking forward to meeting you on Tues night at the Indians baseball game!  Hugs, k.

There are a few FREE TICKETS available for the Indianapolis Indians baseball game on Tuesday night, Aug 16, at 6:30pm.  They are limited to 2 per family.  They are located with other Navy personnel.

Please RSVP on the Events Calendar by clicking this link or Aug 16.  Then email me at bookmarks4me@sbcglobal.net or message me via N4M to arrange pick-up for the tickets.

For the game, the Navy is "manning the rails" by lining the basepaths during the National Anthem, which will be sung by Navy chorus members.  The Leap Frogs parachute team is jumping into the ballpark and the color guard are local Sea Scouts.
