GETTING READY FOR NAVY WEEK!  (AUG 13-22):

I need to start hearing from folks who wish to be included in "invitation only" activities during Navy Week in Indianapolis.  This might be dinners with high ranking officers or social events with sailors.  Please message me your email address with a note that you'd like to hear about special Navy Week activities.

Thanks! k.

Hi everyone!  I am so glad to find this site for Indiana moms!  My son is ship 03 div 082 and is due to PIR 2-18-11.  Is anyone from northern IN?

Hi everyone. My daughter is finishing high school this year and just informed me a week ago that she has decided to join the NAVY. Wow. I got proud and sad all at the same time! Seeing an adult in my baby's eyes. We are waiting to hear from the recruiter to set up a meeting here at home... what comes next?

Thanks for all of the info everyone.  Does anyone know if the airport has a limit as to how many people will be able to wait with our recruit?

Question for those of you who have already experienced boot camp.  My son's PIR is Jan. 28th.  I got a phone call from him last week and he told me that his orders had been changed to him being shipped out on Friday, and only having 4 hrs. for liberty now.  All of this will be confirmed after battlestations.  One of the moms on the community posted that since they will only have 4 hours, they will probably have to stay on base for liberty.  Well, there goes all the planning of what we MIGHT do during liberty.  Anyway, if he has to stay on base, what will there be for us to do?  I don't know if we will be able to wait at the airport or not.  Has anyone ever experienced this liberty before?  I'm so upset!  I really wanted more time with him! The Navy is going to emotionally break me!  LOL!  I still want it all to be positive and upbeat, but not really sure what to expect now.  Any suggestions or ideas about anything?  I really appreciate it.

Hi.  Is any one in Indiana holding or interested in holding a SEWING PARTY or PACKING PARTY for a group of 1,000 Sailors and Marines for February?  We are sewing 1,000 pillowcases (or tie-dying) as well as collecting requested snacks and other treats for some of our deployed gals and guys.  I cannot release much more information than that until our January group is done shipping.  If interested or if you need to know how to do one or both of these, contact me.  thanks, Carol

Is anyone interested in a Navy Moms dinner this month?  Let me know if you're available; date would be Jan 17th.

Donnita, have you move away from us?  Your page says you're in Michigan City now!  Hugs, k.

Hi, ya'll!

First internet access I've had for about 10 days... having a lovely time with son and new DIL!  Time just flies by too quickly. We'll leave them here in Texas on Friday, as we depart for Indiana.  They'll fly back to Seattle on Saturday.  Hugs to everyone... be home soon! k.
