Jim, Honey! We've missed you too! You just couldn't stay away from this crowd of lovely ladies, right?! (PS: tell your wife I said 'hi')!

Thanks Kaye. I found some on line. Real groaners and some just funny. I did get a REAL letter from my SR yesterday and it was peppered with his sharp wit. The next letter I got also yesterday, was A FORM to "adopt" my own kid on Christmas Day from Boot Camp! YAY! I have family in Arlington Height IL (about 15 miles from GL) so we are going to pick him and a buddy up and have them for 12 hours. YAY!

Either Monday is fine with me--my first dinner was last month and I learned so much and the support and friendship was amazing! My son has signed up but won't be going to Great Lakes until next April, and I'm trying to learn as much as I can before then.

We have had guests, also...including the local recruiter.

It depends on your desires...Kaye is asking for input.
On the typical 3rd Monday monthly gathering, we have had a range from whole families including sailors and we have had nights with only mom's and nights with a couple of dad's (mostly mom's).
In her post below she is asking for input for which Monday to have it on...13th (private room at local restuarant with families and special moments, Kaye is a wonderful traditional Southern Hostess) or on the 20th @ Olive Garden, a typical Monday gathering with whoever wishes to attend.

Avon is just outside of the circle freeway, just North and west of the airport on the west side of Indy.
You would probably need to add 35-45 min depending on traffic and construction zones.

INDIANAPOLIS "WESTIES" DINNER: I need some input folks.

(1) Third Monday is Dec 20 and I will be gone to Texas by then. Do we keep it on that day or move it to the 13th?

(2) If it stays on the 20th, the location will be Olive Garden; usual protocols.

(3) If we move it to the 13th, I'd like to book the private room at Charbono's (a nice, but affordable place in Avon), so we could bring family/friends, have a holiday party, light blue candles, and spend more time visiting with BOTH ends of the table. Yes or No?

WHATEVER we do, it's important that everyone RSVP so we have enough seats. During December, restaurants are extra busy and we don't want anyone to eat their dinner in the car! Hugs, k.

Kathy: Congratulations on the engagement! I hope your planning goes smoothly and the event is as enjoyable as ours were. Blessings to the couple from our house!

Dramaboys: Thank you! Somewhere on this site is a list of funny things mentioned in boot camp letters by recruits... don't have time to find it for you just now, but see if you can hunt it down. I'll try to post it later.

Becky: Ouch! A friend had that surgery and it was no picnic recovering. But her advice was to do the physical therapy no matter how much it hurts, because you'll want that range of motion back! So happy to hear of all the visits you're having with your sailor... they are such precious times! Enjoy, and try not to worry about her long drive. Remember that if she needs help along the way, you can turn to the "Sailor's Rescue" group on N4M. Hugs! k.

Absolutely BeeeeUtiful! Congrats Kay and family. Was able to send out 4 letters now that we have the "address". In the group for his PIR someone made a couple questionnaires to send to them and have them send back. Hilarious! He said his brain has turned to Jello with a ll the compliance. Made us giggle!
