65TH REUNION OF THE USS INDIANAPOLIS
July 28 - August 1, in Indianapolis

My deepest apologies for letting this slip... I had no idea that son was coming home June 5 to tell us he was getting married Nov 20!!

I cannot get a full agenda for the Reunion until we send our sponsorship payment. I'd hope we could give $400 to pay the lodging for one Survivor, but there are only 10 of us signed up now -- making the contribution $40 per person. Is that too much?

We are free to join as many Reunion activities as we wish, and/or have our own Navy Moms gatherings 'on the side.' I'm assuming that we won't do the mid-week activities on July 28-30. There will be a Wreath Laying at the memorial on Sunday, August 1st.

(1) ASAP!! EVERYONE NEEDS TO LEAVE A POST IN THE TOPIC "Summer Gathering" ABOVE telling if you can join us or not.

(2) If we get 20 people, that would lower the event contribution to $20 per person. If not, then we could just have a Navy Moms gathering and then attend the Ceremony on Sunday morning as spectators.

(3) If you're near Indianapolis and are willing to host other Navy Moms overnight (saving them hotel $), include that in your post. Personally, I have three queen-sized beds to offer.

(4) If we don't participate in the Reunion, what activities are you interested in? There's a terrific exhibit at the Indiana State Museum about the WASPs, female pilots that flew military craft stateside during WW2. If we have 20 folks, the admission drops to $5.50.

Yes, I've made this a "hurry up" thing... so call your Navy Mom friends and tell them to post ASAP! I can pull it off if I know who's "IN!" Hugs, k.

We hope to see you on Monday, Charlotte. ALL OF US have laughed together, cried together, and griped together... that's why we're here! Hugs, k.

Navy08 -- What a wonderful surprise! (Rhonda H. got the same gift, too!) I wish mine had pulled that off, but he's underwater right now :-( I know you LOVED getting to hug him and FEED him... and don't feel bad, because I, too, still cry when my guy leaves. Hugs! k.
(ps: I think your sailor was sleeping during geography class... everyone knows that "God's country" is Texas. ;-D )

My son left for BC in June. He's started his 4th week. I wonder what he's doing about now.
