Hi Bridget!! I am Laura and live in Bettendorf (by Davenport). Yes I am excited for Friday! I cant believe how much I have learned from Navymoms and facebook about the navy, it has helped me through. Your SR is halfway there! Have you gotten alot of phone calls and letters? My son is in a 900 division so they havent got to call home since 7/16. How old is your son? Where is he going for A school? Mine is 19 and going to Pensacola.
BridgetThebrit where are you from , good luck to your son in bootcamp, it has been a long hard few weeks thats for sure:)
BrendaF did a lot of people meet up at the State fair? Im sorry I just joined or I would of came to the fair:)
MommyLisa you can search Facebook Navy mom PIR friends, you can search groups like September Shippers, once she is in bootcamp you can search the groups of her graduation date, her "ship" and division she is assigned to.
New to IA navy moms. My son graduates Friday 8/16. Anyone have a son/daughter in bootcamp that is from the quad cities?
What is the facebook group called. I would love to join you. I am thinking I may need all the support I can get!!
Mamabear, you have had a full plate with family stuff going on! Sorry to hear about the loss of your brother, how sad...prayers going up for you from Central Iowa! Hope things are better with your sister, too. I'm sure we will ALL keep good thoughts for your daughter on deployment. Same for Aubsmom! My son just left on July 4th for a two year duty station in Guam.....as the airfare from Guam to Iowa is almost 2 grand, I'm guessing we won't be flying him home as often as we did when he was in San Diego. :( On the plus side, not long ago he was awarded the Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal for service above & beyond the call of duty, so that was pretty cool.......I have that at home on the bookcase proudly displayed & think of him whenever I see it. It's strange knowing he's on the other side of the world, and we have to do the math to calculate the time difference! (Right now, it's tomorrow there!) Sending good vibes out to all the Iowa Navy moms!
