Leigh/Anne - LOL... My husband is from Boston and he wears shorts during our winters and ski's with a tshirt....I think he is insane...but he always tells me i have NO CLUE what harsh weather is, hence he moved to California. He was tired of boiling water and throwing it on the car key holes i guess...DOH!

My brother went to boot camp in 1999, around the same time of year, and he said, that indoors was warm but it wasn't super heated.. and they still had to march to and from places in the cold..and practice drill outside.. he said it was really cold, but not that bad... maybe the times have changed..who knows..When my husband landed in Chicago, before the official call, he called me and was like "there is snow everywhere!!!" I can only imagine what they are both going through!! :P

Maggie McD - lol...yep are poor Cali boys. I wondered how they would be doing as far as training etc in such harsh weather. As i researched, the RTC seems to have indoor training. I was watching some of the videos for the bootcamp recruits..it was quite interesting. It made me more at ease knowing that they are in a somewhat of a comfortable environment.
And yes, born and raised here in Oxnard "the Nard". lol

Noelsnavymom: my husbands pants were rolled up too... and he had every pair of socks he brought with him on because there was in inside another inside another stuffed into his shoes.. I wonder what it means too!

Brandonsproudmom: I am in Cali... San Diego area... and you are from Oxnard? Our poor Cali boys, suffering in the cold!! haha! My husband had never seen snow before this.

Asstepmom: You have been so kind, honestly, it helps so much hearing your kind words.. !! thank you!

Lisa- OMGosh!! Hang in there..The missed call and knowing it was from the clinic would have had me in knotts. It may have been a call from her to send some shot records, are something missing from the medical history....Keep us posted xo As far as the box, i received my sons cell phone in it..Are they on your plan? if so, make sure you call and suspend the phone, they will do this for free for being in the military and at bootcamp.

LeighAnne - I totally did the same thing..I set my sons box on the dining table and walked by it a few times, then around, then the sniffing...lol..I sifted through the box and as i quickly dropped his stinky socks, the dogs made a beeline for it.. lol. Guess all forms of life loves the sniffing. So, if your wierd, then add me to the club, along with the dogs.. lol My son left Jan 21st, received box yesterday, no address as of yet.. no call...ugh Darn that "Hurry Up and Wait"

Ashack- the socks were for sure a "eeeeeeeew" lol

Maggie McD - Are you in Cali? I too am in Cali :)

As step-mom - I always follow your messages, you are keeping my spirits up knowing that it will be just around the corner before i hear anything, box, address, etc. :)

Oh my gosh, I've been stalking the mailman this whole time. Maybe Im crazy or maybe Im inpatient, maybe both!!! I recieved my husband in a box yesterday as well.. and it was funny too because I had 2 friends over trying to calm me down because I was sad I haven't received anything yet... and then we hear a knock and its the Delivery truck! We opened the box and had a great time sorting through what he couldn't bring. My sneaky husband snuck a tiny note into the smallest jean pocket for me... made my day!! Still waiting on the letter for now......hate waiting.. haha!

Got the form letter today!! Ship 11, div 119. PIR March 12th, several days ahead of what I thought! He wrote that "all is well".

Thank you for the reassurance. Opening the box was very hard...My 7 month old son immediately recognized daddy's things and started playing with them. I just caught him sitting by the window saying dada and waving...That broke my heart but at the same time made me realize how lucky and proud I am to be his wife!

I just got my 'the box' from my husband today....I was dreading it. He was not scheduled to leave until March 29, 2010, but they called him on Jan 12 to see if he would be willing to leave on Jan 19. We have two small children and have never been apart since the day we met. It has been very hard without him-I am a mess. He is my best friend. However, I am very proud of him for doing this at the age of 30! He is on Ship 11 Div 123..PIR March 19...so if there is anyone out there with a loved one that is on this ship and div, please let me know.
