OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Torismom - ohmygoodness! Is your son coming to meet you? The people of Japan are GREAT and will be very helpful, but I am imagining you after that long flight and with a baby trying to figure out their train system. Here is one q&a I found but please note the link is from 2008 - things may have changed. http://www.japan-guide.com/forum/quereadisplay.html?0+58800 If your son could come and get you, there is a navy bus shuttle y'all could take - but you can't ride that bus without your sailor. you are going to be travelling at the very least another couple of hours after you get off the plane. here is a better link right from Commander Fleet Yokosuka Base - there is an express train that goes directly from Narita to Yokosuka w/ no stops. http://www.cnic.navy.mil/Yokosuka/InstallationGuide/GettingHere/Tra... I went to Japan last year and my son picked me up at the airport. I am pretty certain I would have eventually figured it out and made it to Yokosuka, but I sure am glad he was there to lead me around and get me where I had to be. Oh I hope I have not been too negative here in my attempt to help - I am just imagining you there after that long flight w/ a baby - you ARE going to figure it out and the people are very nice and be willing to help. Hi
When I went to visit my daughter, I flew into Tokyo. They have a bus that goes to Yokosuka but I think you have to sign up for it. My daughter actually met me at the airport and had pre-arranged our transportation back to the base. Not sure if it is too late for you to take the bus. There is a booth at the airport after you come through customs - not sure if it says Yokosuka, Navy, or USO. You could ask someone there.

You need to find the DoD booth. Go to any information booth and ask the letters "D" "O" "D" and someone will direct you. It stands for Department of Defense. There is always someone stationed there during the day. I traveled to Narita as a consultant for the DoD and that was my directions. When I got to the booth the person was on break but returned in 10 minutes.
I hope you have some yen in your pocket. You can exchange dollars for yen at any airport. Look for the universal $.
If all else fails, go to the first class lounge and find someone who speaks English.

Thank you everyone! I wasn't sure that I was going to make the trip as I had to wait a while to get my passports. Also, my son was out to Sea so he couldn't really take care of things on Base and on top of that was scheduled to duty on his first day back and the day/night before i arrived. He actually was released from duty about 2 hrs before we arrived and no communication except email or fb! It was a little nerve wrecking but, as soon as I logged into my fb, there was a post on my wall from him just 14 mins. sooner that said he was almost to the airport! So, we did take the bus back to base. FYI you can only take the bus if you are accompanied by your sailor or posess a military id yourself.
He had taken the train to get to the airport and planned on taking the train back until i now had told him about the bus. Thanks everyone for the advice. and to Katlanta...I should have mentioned that my daughter is two months shy away of three but SUPER independent and helpful! She did amazing for a 13 hour flight and 14 hour time difference! i couln't have asked for a better travel companion of that age! and I had my stuff packed to a science! LOL I brought my stroller (which is a medium one with basket at bottom)..coats and one back pack went there, child in stroller, briefcase/and other back pack strapped over top and pulled luggage behind. I scared myself for nothing! Enjoying my time with my boy for sure!
