Good Blondie has set up the rounds - set up a second - we need it
Maggs I am sending a spell to help.
Hey Navymom - make sure you ask if you can sit at the gate with your son! Just take your ID with and your son shows his military card. This way you can have more time and it's nice to get more hugs .
When my son left he stopped right before entering the walkway to the plane - turn and looks over at us and yells out -" by Mom and Dad love you". Makes your heart jump and feel warm.
Big Cyber Hug NavyMom
Elaine - what a great story to share. Makes us bust with pride.
MIss - you son really thought it out for the gifts. And our son too would call and we all open gifts over the phone.
Honest new mom s you will get through it - just cry if you want and even go hung something of theirs they left behind. I carried and hugged this small Panda bear for a year. And it is starting to appear that my son will not be home for Christmas. This will be his 5th one in a row not home. I know I had him for 3 weeks, but I am being a mom right now - and I am having one of those " Missing My Sailor's Blues" day. I'll go do the dishes - that will help.
Blondie - funny :) and thanks for update on Nick. Glad you did hear - even though it was only every 3ed to 4th word - you sailor :)
Anti M - how you doing?
Ok - need to get - no major gossip or pictures to share
Guess I ma just being dull.
Wish all a quiet and happy evening hugs
@navymom, he can carry a knife set in his checked baggage. He just can't take it on a ship! Even the barracks have rules about knives, even kitchen knives. He should ask his sponsor (I don't know what his living arrangements will be).
navyblumom, my heart goes out to you! Just about a month ago I was in your shoes. My son had been home on leave for 3 weeks (the first one in a year), and I was not ready for him to go back! I struggled for days and I too bawled my eyes out! This will not help you right now, but it is true, you will get through it. With a lot of Moms praying for you, you will make it. I can't tell you that being without your Sailor is easy, especially during the holidays. This will be our 2nd Christmas without our son, and it is just as hard as last year was. We do Skype with him and open our gifts together. He has mailed all the gifts that he bought for his girlfriend and us, to my house. He put hers in a box addressed to me, and all of ours (sister's, Dad's and mine) in a box addressed to GF. I am suppose to wrap hers from him, and call her when the boxes arrive, and she will come over and wrap ours from him! He's pretty sharp! Getting to talk to him and watch him open his gifts helps a lot. He said it might be a couple days past Christmas before he has time off that we do this, and we told him that is fine. Christmas is just a day for family anyway and we will celebrate any day that we can. I will just be thankful to be able to this. Hang in there and I am praying for you! HUGS!
Blondie, wonderful news about Nick! Thank you for sharing and keeping us posted, you are a sweetheart! Thank you LORD for answered prayers.
Elaine, thank you for sharing about that wonderful young men! Warms your heart and makes you feel so good that there are wonderful people in this world with might big hearts!
Navymomyoung, so glad your Sailor is there safe and sound. Yes your Christmas will be different, but have her to sign up on Skype... that is wonderful! It is not the same as being with them, but the next best thing Hope you and your family have a wonderful and blessed Christmas.
Elaine that is wonderful what that gentleman did and then for those new sailor to give it to the USO.
I hope everyone is having a wonderful Holiday.
I have a question. My son wants to take his kitchen knife set with him to Japan. Do you think he will be able to put it in his luggage or should we box it and ship it?
Hi all, and Merry Christmas to you. I don't post much here but after reading T-Lynn's post about her son I had to add this. About two weeks ago three brand spanking new sailors arrived in P'cola for A school. While walking through the airport a gentleman handed each sailor a $100.00 bill. Those three sailors gave that money to the USO in the airport. The Navy RTC posted this. Over the weekend I saw a post somewhere on FB from one of the moms whose son was given a $100.00 bill. She was bursting with pride. Our kids do surprise us, don't they? T-Lynn, I am glad he arrived at his destination safely. What goes around, comes around.
As far as what will happen now with North Korea, only time will tell. There is so much going on in Asia right now, it is imperative we stay on top of it. China has that new carrier but it won't be operational for about 5 years or so, at least that is what I have read.
To all with sailors at home, have a great Christmas. Mine is on deployment for this year, will be in port the next 2 years. This is his first Christmas ever not being at home. He is doing an important job, protecting our freedom. For that I am very proud. I will hold that thought and hope that those who have sailors stationed around the world will too. God Bless the Navy.
I just spoke to my son. He was on duty on the ship and was surprised my call got through. The visa appointment went well and she will get her visa. I didn't get any details. I just realized that he visa will be in her married name and her passport is in her Japanese name. I made the airline reservation to match her passport. I better call them.
Maybe towing you and bringing you to the shop, look at the car and tell you so NEED to purchase this to make it run. And Look ! They have it in shop to buy - on sale.
If this is not their idea - then they need to go back to school and learn the OLD math. The NEW math they are using will drive them out of business.
Sorry about the car Katlanta - hope it is a simple fix.
SURPRISES of Sailors popping in is contagious here! Hope it keeps happening. Sue and Robin - just 10 days to go for that hug :)
But about your Mom in the hospital - sorry.
Kim - we all here will cross our toes -fingers - eyes - etc for you too. Let us know when you hear how she does.
And white sparkle or silver sparkle nail polish goes good with black and blue.
Thank for the update Blondie - Nick is sure a trooper.
I heard the news late last night about that leader of N.K. passing. I agree with all of you - hope the new guy does not do something stupid. If he does - I think N.K. will be stomped on.
Need to get along - house cleaning day. So thrilling.
Wish all a good day.
