Good Day all :)
Love getting up to stories - makes the coffee even taste better.

First off - going to doctor this coming Tuesday and will get that thyroid of mine back on track.

Thank goodness! - no flooding. And NDM - share those Storeis !!!!!!

Ok - sharing here:

This morning was in teh kitchen with Mom - and we are chatting away - when all of a sudden teh floor shook and we heard a big boom. Naturally - I thought - earth quake, but it didn't fell quite right. Then I remembered = my nephew is still sleeping in Alex's room. So I went to check on him. Knocked on teh door and opened it when I didn't get any answer. There I found him - sound asleep - one arm over his eyes - snoring - flat on his back - covered still with the sheet - on teh floor - With the air bed on top of him. I start yelling out his name to wake up. He finally did and here is what he said:
Aunt T was sledding with my friends adn I decided to go donw the big ramp. I was going fast and the sled came out from under me and i sailed through the air and landed on my back. I landed and the guys came running adn said how cool I looked and it was cool. Then Kerry's sister started yelling at me and I woke up and it was you yelling." I told him get up - coffee was done perking and eat some cake.

My family ! And now I have learned my oldest has to be in teh St. Patrick's Day parade here. He has to be in teh company Cricket car adn wave at the by standers. He has decided to wear his brother's kilt too. Now there will be sight!

Ok - done sharing - off to crank duty. havea great day all hugs TLynn

The Blue Ridge is an incredibly clean ship, and there's a lot of inspections and visitors. All gear and systems must be kept in top shape and the readiness factor is quite high (you can tell I was a tech, huh?). Safe? Extremely. Good chances to receive awards and recognition which counts toward advancement? Exceedingly good. My ex hated it, he didn't like the protocol and scrutiny. But then, he wasn't the best sailor in the fleet.

While I was in Japan, there were times when the Blue Ridge needed a tech for a specific system. They didn't have an ET filling the billet for a while, so I'd have to go fix it if it was down while in port. This was before women were stationed on combat ships. (Most ships are combat ships, don't freak at the terminology).
So I usually saw the interior of the BR in the middle of the night, deep inside. One night at three a.m., I needed to use the restroom. The seaman assigned to escort me freaked out. The only head he knew of for women was over by the galley. So we went through a maze of passages, up and down ladders to avoid secure spaces and officer territory. We got to the galley and of course, no one was there. The cooks had the key to the visitor head and weren't there. I could see another head down the passageway. I can go in there! No replied the seaman, that's officer country. We'll get in trouble! No, I told him, I'm the petty officer, I'll get in trouble, you stay there. I thought the poor young man was going to drop dead of fear on the spot. LOL. The next time, there was a chief awake with me. He let me use the chief's head. This was again, before women on board. The walls were plastered with porn! I didn't care, but I bet that doesn't go on as much anymore!

If anyone wonders, I was working in a secure space, even though I had a Top Secret clearance, I wasn't part of the ship's crew, nor was anyone supposed to be in that space by themselves. So I always had an escort when working there. Good thing, I never could have found my way around that ship by myself!

Where is Kyoto?

My son sent me the forms for his "gator cruise" (I think it is called tiger cruise). My husband thinks it is too expensive to go...but I really want to go. I could cut the cost in half by going myself. Feedback please.

Hurray - story time !

Blondie... I know which ship. I've worked on board her, although I wasn't assigned to her. Yep, there's a lot of pressure to keep squared away. I once had to sit at the Admiral's desk to do maintenance on the gear, it had to be checked in place, and when it comes to crypto, I wouldn't budge an inch on proper procedure. Freaked out the Marines on guard ten ways from Sunday. Middle of the night, the Admiral wasn't even in country anyway. Ah, yes, I know her well. I'll tell you some tales now and then.

Just running to keep out water - yes? Please , share that you are NOT flooding.

Hi
It is Spring! I awoke to find:
two Robins in the front yard Maple Tree singing. And not to sound punnish, but they were "Singing In the Rain". And then found an Ant running around the kitchen sink.
Shark the turtle is giving signs of starting her "Walk Abouts" She does that every Spring - walks for hours - non stop after she eats. So I am creating signs to place on the doors:
Warning Shark in on WALK ABOUT
Keep doors Closed
Watch your step
This should last about 3 weeks.

NDM - know we now just how much you love your son in Japan - to want the same time zone. Don't blame you - all of us wish that one.
But I agree with Kim - being on a farm or just nature Her self - they all folow the Sun and Moon time - not the man made time.

Mom had her appointment today and she gained another 2 pounds and blood work - Perfect ! So doctor is happy with her. Then the nurses looked at me and mentioned I didn't look so good. Gee - there I was my new hair cut too and I even dolled up a bit. But I know what they are talking about - my thyroid is off , so that can make me have the appearance of being ill or very tired. EVEN with a ton of makeup.

This week end is going to fun too. JUST found out that - I have family members coming - now I understand why I got a burst of energy to bake that homemade German Chocloate cake last night. That will be gone by tomorrow moring - so Mom is wanting the White Buttermilk cake with Sour Cream Coconut icing made too. Thank fully I cook without calories or I be bursting out of my pants. Notice - no mention of what to have for meals - just covering desert first.

I agree - we have not had many good "Kleenex Club " stories. That was nice Val.
Need to go - the Laundry Fariy is back . take care all TLynn

Jane, safe journey, sounds fabulous! Kyoto is marvelous.

Val, you have a awesome job but there is no way I could ever handle all that emotion daily. I hope that when I have dementia I have someone like you. I love your attitude about your market research. My youngest in college was sent $1.00 bill and asked to fill out a survey. He was going to keep the $1.00 (they sent it without asking) and ignore the survey. I suggested that he do the survey because he may get on a list. He has no summer job lined up so.....what the heck. Also, the survey sounded important.

Mark, spring forward and fall back. We are going to gain an hour towards Japan. Yea! But I think my son is in Singapore or somewhere. I have no idea what time zone he is in. Are you in a state that some places are into daylight savings and some aren't? I don't get the concept. What is the point of the sun setting and rising earlier in the winter? If I was a farmer I might see the advantage but most of us use more electricity at night. I don't claim to have any expertise in this, but wouldn't it make more sense to leave it alone and maybe(?) save energy costs.

Carol, we need to activate the kleenex and puffs club. There are too many great stories recently and a lot of very young people being deployed to Japan.
