Kathy16, phone the airlines and ask for the military discount. They start low. My son is flying from Fukuoka to Tokyo to Chicago to Philadelphia and return PHL - Washington - Tokyo - Fukuoka for $1600. He is flying Dec 29 to Jan 10. It would have been cheaper at Christmas, but not much.
I was told prices start one-way from $450 - $600 (I think), depending on the airline from FUK - PHL. They go up during the holidays and some airlines had no more discounts left. His ticket is fully refundable but cannot be modified.

When Katie came home after graduating A school in April 2009, the Navy flew her home from Chicago to DTW and then they flew her to Japan.....Detroit-Chicago-Tokyo-Fukuoka and a bus ride to Sasebo. Where is your daughter being stationed?

Back on September 4th 2006. So all is fine now - and that basment is so clean! I just remember loosing so many pictures, items - that can never be replaced and just didn't want you to go through that. So glad to know the water is not coming up and the rain is letting up. Funny we are to get rain tonight. I hope that means the sunny days I had are coming your way :) Sweet dream Debi. And to all too. TLynn

Debi are you still dry? I am really putting out the positive vibes for you to stay dry. My basement was flooded with 3 and 1/2 feet of water NOT FUN! Keep us posted. Update about Mom - the cancer that was found - has NOT spread anywhere. The doctor stated that if her uterus is just removed - she will be just fine. A real possibility of no treatment of any kind after it is removed. Now she will see her primary and from there hopeful a surgery to remove it. At this point - she is doing fine - you never know anything is wrong with her. Will keep everyone posted Thanks for all the posivitve thoughts for my Mom. Talk later - I have to email the relatives. Hugs TLynn

I put it on my facebook too (good idea)
Wamom they go in cycles. They get used to it but they get homesick too. I think the first year is the worst.
Debi, we are getting it today, but it won't be that bad. How are our naval bases doing down there? My son was at Virginia Beach two years ago from fathers day until March and they didn't get a bad storm. I saw alot of signs for evacuation route but never knew how that would work.

I didn't manage to have kids myself, so my sailor is my nephew, but I still get misty over patriotic songs and sad news stories.
