I will be doing scarfs for the large Christmas project at Molly's Adopt a Sailor. They are not going to mention anything over on that site because they are concentrating on other projects right now. But, since it takes a while to knit or crotchet a number of scarfs, she as given me the go ahead to contact you all. The scarfs will need to be no wider than 8 inches and no longer than 60 inches and no fringe that could get caught in their gear. I'm going to stick to desert camo and tans in my scarfs. Any of you have any thoughts please let me know. The more scarfs the better. They will all be sent to our sailors and Marines to keep them warm.

Do you have a pattern for crocheting a scarf? Thanks!
I don't have any specific pattern. Sometimes I just cast on and double crotchet each row. It kind of depends on the yarn. I'll check around and see if I can find other patterns.
Are you a member of ravelry? If not, you should look at their website. The have lots of free patterns.
I started on a scarf today.
Debbie, Thank you. I think Molly is hoping for a big group to adopt.
I would love to participate! My son just joined and will be leaving for bc in September. I was wanting a project that his sister, his girlfriend and I could do....thank you...
Grace, Wool is of course the warmest but also more expensive. I'm doing most out of acrylic yarn. I think one skein is a blend. Whatever you have is fine. Just remember the color issue. Have fun.
I will work on a scarf or two also. I love to crochet. Will stick to dark colors like Navy blue or a blend of blues. My son is in FLordia so he won't be needing a scarf anytime soon. Just let me know where I'm supposed to send them?
Thanks
Nicola
Nicola, I have no idea where Molly's group is sending the scarfs but I will let you know. I know the ones going to the Stan need to be the sand or camo color. However, Molly has mentioned she has plans to send them other places as well. I will keep everyone posted about where to send them when we get closer to the time to send them. I'm thinking around Dec. or late Nov. Thanks everyone for helping out. Just a reminder. No Fringe of any kind. I also have a pattern for Fleece scarfs if you know anyone who doesn't knit or crotchet.
I heard from Molly earlier this afternoon and she's planning to get us all the details sometime tomorrow:)!
I have some details for you all. The scarfs must be tans, desert camo or light browns. They need to be sent to me by Dec 1st. The length is still 60" but can be a bit longer. The yarn can't be any kind that can get fuzzy or anything that can get caught in equipment. The scarfs will be sent to a group in Afganistan, so think warm, very warm.
i have 3 done so far
