Knit for the Navy

A group for those who knit or crochet that would like to blanket our sailors with a touch of home. Our goal is to blanket the entire Navy.

Ok, here are the basics. We are asking for handmade blankets/afghans that are twin bed size or smaller. You can knit, crochet, quilt, or make the hand tied (no sew) fleece blankets. (We are open to any other methods as well.) Any pattern or color, that is up to your creativity. Just be sure they are tasteful and appropriate.

After I receive the blanket/afghan, they will be collected and distributed to the ship of the month. Look for pictures of the finished blankets/afghans posted here. Any questions or suggestions can be sent to me or posted on our message board here. Thank you all for your help.

Due to the HUGE cost of shipping blankets, I am very sad to say that I can no longer accept blankets to mail to the ships. I hope that everyone will continue to enjoy the group and come together for friendship and support. Thank you so much everyone who make blankets for our sailors. I know that they appreciated them.

Hello, I used to crochet hats for the homeless with a crochet hook but has anyone used a loom to knit hats with? Maybe it's a lazy way of crocheting/knitting but it helps with those who may have arthritis.

now I have not looked into this , but I was wondering if anyone knows how to create the badges, like the navy for moms one, I was thinking that if we could create a knit for the navy one we could post it on our myspace and facebooks. Maybe we could include the paypay link or the shopping web site. Just a thought
Can you share the shopping web site again......spring is time to shop.........huggs all

As much as I'm hoping you draw my son's sub next, it will be fun to be able to start using "pink' yarn again. I had bought a lot of Girlie colors the last time I ordered yarn online

Terri, I'm still trying to up pack the POD with all our stuff in it. So, I'm litterally up to my ears in boxes. Haven't found the yarn yet, but I'm looking.
