Knit for the Navy

A group for those who knit or crochet that would like to blanket our sailors with a touch of home. Our goal is to blanket the entire Navy.

Ok, here are the basics. We are asking for handmade blankets/afghans that are twin bed size or smaller. You can knit, crochet, quilt, or make the hand tied (no sew) fleece blankets. (We are open to any other methods as well.) Any pattern or color, that is up to your creativity. Just be sure they are tasteful and appropriate.

After I receive the blanket/afghan, they will be collected and distributed to the ship of the month. Look for pictures of the finished blankets/afghans posted here. Any questions or suggestions can be sent to me or posted on our message board here. Thank you all for your help.

Due to the HUGE cost of shipping blankets, I am very sad to say that I can no longer accept blankets to mail to the ships. I hope that everyone will continue to enjoy the group and come together for friendship and support. Thank you so much everyone who make blankets for our sailors. I know that they appreciated them.

We were a bit in shock when the sale happened so fast. The townhouse we bought had only been on the market for a week. Houses here are moving quickly. I think that is probably because there are very few foreclosures here. Pittsburgh is a center a stability. Our houses never went up in value like in other areas, so very few people here got in over their heads. I'm so looking forward to getting my sewingroom back.

I have some great news. We sold our home in 24 hours and we were really worried about finding another house before we had to move out of this one. We found a great townhouse last weekend. The seller has excepted our offer and we move in on April 14th.

Terri, I'm mailing off a box of blankets today. I now know how you feel with all those boxes. I'm now up to my ears in boxes trying to get the house packed up so we can be out of here by the end of the month. BTW, there is an a check taped to the bag to help with the shipping.

Terri is going to shipping the boxes to the ship all at one time. She does have our address posted and a paypal link if some wants to help out with shipping.
Also for those that have not seen it. We have posted a flyer in a discussion that you can print if you'd like to hang up ( I'm also planning on using to get some cans in stores to maybe get donations) . I'm not sure what type of address Terri is using to get them to the ship. I know she was working with the Mason directly.

We are looking for a house in Cranberry,PA. In fact we are headed that way tomorrow afternoon. We need to find something very soon because the people buying our house want to close in 6 weeks. It is going to be a very busy few weeks.
