Knit for the Navy

A group for those who knit or crochet that would like to blanket our sailors with a touch of home. Our goal is to blanket the entire Navy.

Ok, here are the basics. We are asking for handmade blankets/afghans that are twin bed size or smaller. You can knit, crochet, quilt, or make the hand tied (no sew) fleece blankets. (We are open to any other methods as well.) Any pattern or color, that is up to your creativity. Just be sure they are tasteful and appropriate.

After I receive the blanket/afghan, they will be collected and distributed to the ship of the month. Look for pictures of the finished blankets/afghans posted here. Any questions or suggestions can be sent to me or posted on our message board here. Thank you all for your help.

Due to the HUGE cost of shipping blankets, I am very sad to say that I can no longer accept blankets to mail to the ships. I hope that everyone will continue to enjoy the group and come together for friendship and support. Thank you so much everyone who make blankets for our sailors. I know that they appreciated them.

Terri,
The logo is awesome. Showed it to my daughter and she loved it.
She is so excited about being the first ship to receive blankets!! I could use some yarn if you have it... I have not received any as of this date. I've been trying to scrap some up but not very lucky. I would really like to make a couple of blankets.. I have the time and am willing... just need supplies

Ok my talented friends, because I don't have a clue how to read a pattern, and I don't find someone to teach me I will beable to share my leftover yarn to someone that is making hats. So how much yarn does it take to make a hat?
Do they want any special colors? If anyone needs any yarn to make a couple now just let me know onlylauren59@yahoo.com please put knit4navy in subject line

WOW Inga......now that is talent......beautiful !!!!
I"m am also sorry for the loss of family that so many are feeling. I also agree that no matter what our beliefs are we will be there for each other. I would like to take the time to tell everyone in this group that I so much appreciate how up-beat each and every member has been, but I'd also like to say that we all have bad days and different beliefs and building bonds and being there for each other no matter what is why I love this site and if anyone would think that "anyones" life is a waste well ....I would just pray for them
on a up note can you believe that we are up to 66 memebers how cool is that
Terri how many blankets do we have for that wonderful ship the USS Mason? (my son dropped 4 in the mail today)
