Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of April (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!
If you have April ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in April, ...then this is the place to be. :-)
Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)
Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones) Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.
***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.
Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.
The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.
After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc.Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Sets New Physical Fitness Standard to Start Boot Camp. "The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes seven seconds for female recruits."

I'm still alive!" call in about week 3 or 4 and have usually received mail by that time, but that call can be lost for any number of reasons. Recruits have also been able to make a very short call within a week or so of arrival at times just because the RDC was in a good mood.
Im guessing either week of 23rd or 1st week of may.

Jdawg that is correct, the no communication is a test to see who will break down or get depressed. because once out on deployment sometimes there is no communication depending what you are doing and they need to know that the person isnt going to lose it. so this is a test for them but also for us. stay strong start writing your letters and as soon as you get the form letter you can begin to send. also there is a post that many should read because they have changed the way the form letter is sent out.

JessesWifey, my son called last night at 12:12. I think we may have gotten about 15 seconds! If it was not for the information I read on this site - I would have panicked! Maybe our two will meet!
I am confused on writing letters - it does not do any good to send letters now because he is not situated on his end. So, not only we are cut off from our recruits, they are cut off from us. Is that correct? As soon as we get the official form letter, we can start writing away.

Below I have put some sites that you may want to read, if not I can post them on your my page, it will give you an idea what to look for. at this time communication will be cut Off until the third week, then you should receive a call or Letter. My husband left yesterday, got the last call at 2:38 this morning. All 33 seconds of it. I'm barely keeping it together, trying to stay busy at work but not knowing whats going on or know when I'll hear from him next is giving me such anxiety. I miss him so much.

To guesstimate the PIR date, count 9 Fridays after your recruit arrived to get the most likely PIR (graduation) date, but then know that it could be the week before if s/he is placed in one of the last divisions from the previous week and is in a "Push Division"

To graduate boot camp, a sailor needs an overall category of "Good (Low)," which means their average in three events must be 60 points or greater.

Navy recruits will have to pass a run test prior to boot camp start...January 2018.
according to this site the Navy is raising the bar, the navy at one point never had a standard like the Army, and Marines, Air force now trhey are implementing this. So for those that have Loved ones entering in please have them to look this over and start running and doing sit ups, push ups ,swimming they will be tested. if you can pass this beforehand then their should be no problems.

It will usually arrive by FedEx within a few days, but it can take up to 2 weeks at times.
