It's ok
What helps me is to stay informed.
This site has been invaluable in this manner.

Hi. My son also left last Tuesday. Still waiting for a letter. My husband and I found it was most difficult to come back home after saying good-bye. The house just seems empty, even with 3 other kids at home still. (: Sunday was especially hard.

Wow! I have our 13 yr old daughter at home and am dreading the empty nest status too. Wondering if our son will ever even live in Colorado again leave alone our house. I am guessing you received his box by now. We got ours on Mon. and now are waiting for the form letter. Where do you live? We are in Highlands Ranch a suburb of Denver. Our son is 18 and headed to Pensacola next. How about your boy? We are getting by day by day craving some kind of contact with Korbin.

My daughter left on the 20th as well. She is also heading to Pensacola following bc. We received her box Monday. It was surreal taking her stuff out without her there and thinking about what she was doing. We just keep praying.

Sorry. Just read this response. Getting used to how this all works. We live in Mesa Arizona. Carl is also headed to Pensacola for air traffic control. It is so hard not to be able to call, text or email him.  I am a teacher so I am so busy most of the time that it keeps my mind busy.  I also have 3 at home still. I still miss my boy though.

Since your SR has a contract for Air Traffic Controlman (AC), join Air Traffic Controller Moms, Sailors In Pensacola, FL For A School....Corry Station too!!, and Parents of A School Sailors in Pensacola and check out Airman Family and Friends. The Rating Information Card for AC can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/ac.pdf. Your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend.

kanuckone, You indicated that your SR will go to Pensacola after BC; join Sailors In Pensacola, FL For A School....Corry Station too!!and Parents of A School Sailors in Pensacola. What will his rating (job/specialty) be? There are groups for many of the ratings with "A" School or training in Pensacola.

Sounds like we should both be getting our form letter by the weekend. Gonna be nice to know their address and grad date. Where are you from and is she your only child? We may be going to grad the same time too.
I got her address today from her recruiter. She is my only daughter, we have 2 son's as well. One older and one younger. We dropped the younger one off for his 1st year of college in MN 4 days before we said goodbye to our daughter. Our oldest is married in MO. We live in Los Angeles. We are kind of empty nesters, my 93 year old dad lives with us and one of my son's friends just moved in with us. We are trying to come along side him as he persues college.

Remember do not send letters before receiving the form letter unless 2 full weeks have passed without receiving the form letter. See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC and Letter Writing & Fun Stuff/Questionnaires to send to your Recruit within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) for more on that.

Have you received any dates or adddress yet? It must be so difficult having all 3 of your kids gone at about the same time. You have every reason to feel proud yet empty. Good wishes to you on this challenging transition.

I received the form letter yesterday.  Have you received your yet?  She is Ship 14 Div 399, grad date Oct. 25.  Where is your son at?
