Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of December (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have December ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in December, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Sets New Physical Fitness Standard to Start Boot Camp. "The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes seven seconds for female recruits."

Just found this N4M site two weeks ago and have greatly appreciated all the information and experiences from all the moms. It has increased my teariness as his departure date comes near. He will head to San Antonio Sunday then off to GL on Monday. His sister is coming home for the weekend from college to say good-bye. I am so proud of him but will miss him dearly. As you said they are leaving our young boys and will come back different as men and will make us proud.

Z's mom, ,

We had the same experience here.  Our son found a new love for all he had in our home, his life and home town...could not get enough.  Your emotions are normal and to be expected.  They are leaving boys and returning men.  This is what we raised them to be, protectors, courageous, and brave.  will be praying for you that you both have sweet memories this week

My son leaves on Sunday for DEP at Great Lakes.

He has been gone to visit his friends, his dad, gone to concerts ect. Trying to fit a lot of life in a few days. I feel sad and ( embarrassingly) jealous of his time.

At this point I feel a mix of emotions; Sad, scared for my son, excited for his new adventure and pride.

As I read through all of these posts over the last couple days it is so encouraging to know that at the same time we are all feeling a myriad of similar emotions and our kids will be joining together for the same purpose.  We all have SO much to be proud of...so much to look up to our kids for.

I have cried off and on all day today.  Went to library and Target to get my mind off of it all and only thought about the last time my son and I were in Target together, 3 days ago.  This is MUCH harder than I thought it would be but I know that I will be okay and stronger for it.

We had our Christmas together on Saturday...so it feels kind of weird seeing people out there shopping still :)

Blessings to all of you

Lita - my thoughts are with you.  reading your post and James-mom's post  I am also crying now.  1 week from tonight my son will be in the hotel.  I won't be able to protect him anymore either.  Hugs to you!  DesiMcGahey - I agree the holidays are going to be the worst.  :(  my thoughts will be with you on Thursday. Our daughter is headed home this weekend to surprise my son and to say her goodbyes.  She asked me to get a bunch of balloons for her to have when he sees her.  1 Good Luck Balloon 2 red, 2 white and 2 blue balloons.  She says 7 balloons are good luck.  my thoughts are with all you moms who sons/daughters have already left.

Hi everyone, Hope all are well! My son goes to MEPS tomorrow and BC in Thursday. My husband and I are going to Maryland to say our goodbyes. It is going to be so hard to compose myself when I get that last hug before he gets on the plane. We are taking him to dinner tomorrow night. I told him to pick anywhere he wants to go since he won't be able to go there for awhile. I do hear the food is tolerable in BC, so that will be good. Who else has a son/daughter leaving for BC on Thursday? The journey is just beginning!

Hello everyone!  I just joined N4M today. My son leaves on the 11th from San Antonio - I live in Florida. He surprised me last Monday with a visit! It was my best week in a LONG time! He has lived away from home for over 2 years so him being away isn't as hard for me as it may be for other moms. I am so excited for him to be joining the Navy and taking charge of his life and serving our country! We said our goodbyes last Friday which was a little teary eyed. My heart goes out to all the moms on here saying good-bye to their child! I am definitely looking forward to PIR!

We just said our goodbyes. This hurts. Most of the family showed up everyone hugged him and then he turned back and said he needed one more hug from me and my heart shattered.
