Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of December (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have December ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in December, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Sets New Physical Fitness Standard to Start Boot Camp. "The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes seven seconds for female recruits."

Hope everyone enjoys this extra special Thanksgiving day today with their sons/daughters and family. There are people in my life who comfort me when the going gets tough. They will pick me up when I fall, and hold me in their arms when I cry. I am so THANKFUL to be a Wife, Mother, Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, and Friend and soon to be Navy Mom. I am so very blessed.......

Happy Thanksgiving Navy Moms! I hope you all enjoy your last holiday meal with your future sailor before they ship out in December. I know I will enjoy mine. I will have all three of my sons with me today and I plan on taking a lot of pics!

Hey harvard, my post got dragged down...what is your rate?

Just a heads up, got a call from my recruiter, they are shifting some recruits ship out dates to get the right numbers to form divisions promptly before the holidays. All three of us deppers from my office got bumped up one day earlier.

On a holiday fun note, I probably won't have an address in time to receive Christmas cards. So for my buddy that shipped out this month, I got a pop up card from Barnes & Noble with a scene of a living room decorated for Christmas. With a note: Thought I would bring Christmas to your barracks, just think of all the moms spending hours decorating what took you 1 second! P.S. I'm a super dweeb :)

Happy Thanksgiving Navy Moms, thank you for being there! It means the world to me to know that you are all out there, thinking of each other!

For those of you with kids exhibiting challening behaviors shall we say...read my little story about the the pre-boot camp uffdays...you will be glad you did... just recently added it to this group. It will help you understand why they are being pains in the tushy...lol

I know its hard and that in some ways you see this as that last holiday especially since you know your recruit won't be home for Christmas. I have a bit of the holiday blues myself because my son is in Pensacola at A-school and I am in KY by myself, well with my little Yorkie. I will probably spend some time on Navy for Moms tomorrow, talking to friends, watching football, and being thankful that my son will make it home for a few days at Christmas. I guess for us, you and I will be switiching holidays this year.

Life is going to change for the time that your recruit is in the Navy. The actual date of the holidays wil mean less than the celebration. Perhaps you can focus on having a little mini-Christmas before your recruit takes off or planning one for when your sailor completes PIR. Learn to be creative. No matter how grumpy they are, or sad you are...take time to spend time together. You will be glad you did...and one week into boot camp...so will they....lol!!

Well harvard...I think C you can count on, D is a distinct possibility, and A and B...well it never hurts to dream....lol

Oh tls, trust me... I have those feelings also. I go from feeling sad to wishing they would ship him early as well! It's like a roller coaster for me.

You all make me feel a bit guilty, I must admit. To be honest, my daughter is driving me CRAZY and being sad about her leaving is just not an emotion that I can conjure up at the moment. I will be driving back to her original recruiter (12 hours away) on December 6th, for her ship date of 12/8 ... at this point in time, I'm tempted to just put her on a plane ... ugh!

Mama and JTW. the dang list is driving me insane. I know it's an inanimate object so it is really ME driving myself! You are so lucky you have someone cooking. I need to cook and clean (like Mamawalrus). So how do we do it? The calendar is my enemy and time just won't cooperate!
