Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of December (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have December ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in December, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Sets New Physical Fitness Standard to Start Boot Camp. "The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes seven seconds for female recruits."

I still don't have the Christmas tree up. Been trying for it seems like forever to get it done. It's up, it has lights but no ornaments. Every time I try to get it done.....I just well don't. I am having a case of the "I don't want to's" also. I am very lucky to have my Parents doing our cooking for Thanksgiving. My Step Mom and Dad are handling the entire thing and doing it at their home also....which is a great thing for me....my house has been on the I don't want to list also. Everytime I look at the calander, I burst out into tears....Its getting to close and I am running out of time. Wish there was an easy or pause button about right now.

Renick, My husband is on his way back from hunting as we speak, and of course I have been running around crazy trying to get all the food, clean before we get company and UGH!!!!!!! We will do Thanksgiving at my in laws, and my sister in law and family will come down so they can see my son before he leaves, This is our last Thanksgiving with him so we are doing it with a lot of family BUT the sad thing is my oldest (daughter) and grandson will not be joining us to do some issues beyond our control. Bittersweet as I wanted all my kids together.
Motivation is hard for to for soem reason this year. I have the "dont wanna" feeling. hahahahahahahaha

I am having the Thanksgiving blues. My son leaves 12/15 and our family has dwindled down to such a small number. I'm used to large gatherings, but this year it will be so small. I am cooking all the food and am getting no help from my husband (who is hunting and won't even be here til dinner) and none from my son, (who just got a new game "call to duty"). I am trying to make it a special day and so far haven't gotten too much accomplished. How are you all doing with your meal planning? Need to motivate myself!

Yes prayers and safe keeping for USS Washington.
Also, I would like prayers for a very good frreind of mine who lost her husband Monday at the age of 32. She is heart broken and they have a 8 month old baby.
Such a reminder that life is so short and to be thankful for all we have as we do not know when a tragedy will cut short our life.

The Korea situation is so very complicated and very scary. I read the Washington will be right in the yellow sea. I too will be praying and breathing! I pray for safety, teamwork, and bravery for all the men and women.

what's your rate harvard 27?

Ken-55,

The lovely constant variable. My recruiter said if you are of age, checked into your A-School, and have no job that requires you to be back on base, then yes you may have a drink PIR weekend. One or two is fine just don't get drunk, if it comes down to it, then I will enjoy a virgin drink, but lets hope for the best. I've never been for quantity, only quality, excessive drinking is just silly.

Harvard27,

Hate to be a buzzkill. . . I think I read somewhere that alcohol is not allowed during the liberty after PIR???

Found my "eye one the prize" to keep me motivated during the cold days at BC. A hotel near GL with an indoor water park woohoo!!! Can't wait to float around the lazy river sipping on a daquari (virgin or rum), with my hubby and BFF. All those PT's I'll be thinking how amazing I'm going to look. Then again, I accidently referred to BC as a resort, like Disney World, where all my dreams come true LOL. Hopefully I'll get to enjoy: A.) Drink B.) Staying overnight since my A-School is GL C.) Latte D.) PIR on my B-Day!
