Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of February (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!
If you have February ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in February, ...then this is the place to be. :-)
Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)
Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones) Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.
Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.
The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.
After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.
Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)
**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

My daughter left February 4, 2015 - received her box of clothes on 2/10 and the letter yesterday (2/11). I sent out a 6 page letter to her last night... PIR is April 3rd.
hI Tonya, just got home from work,i am on FB so will try and connect with you(i dont have Sam here to show me how to do all ths stuff now so it may take me awhile(she is my one and only) she told me Austin was in her group of 6 that ate at Chilis where the guy on the next table bought their meals!
My son arrived to Great Lakes shortly before midnight last night. I was getting texts throughout the day of his travel from Seattle and received a call when they touched down in Chicago and then the scripted call from GL. He said the other kids were friendly and talkative and he seemed relieved at that...reminded him everyone is in the same boat. After a long weekend of good-bye parties, nervous stomach, he was glad things were finally happening, although very bittersweet. I can't wait to get that form letter so I can start writing letters!
Lesley, it was a pleasure meeting you and your family. I am so glad your Sam is a good communicator! Austin called to let us know he had arrived but gave no other information. Can we keep in touch? Please feel free to friend my on FB if you have one. Tonya Simpson Ashley. I hope you are doing okay today. I was so heartbroken for you when your daughter left. Watching you stand by that bus, I could just tell how much you two love each other and I know you must have a great relationship :)
My daughter arrived last night at 11:00. My son-n-law got the 2 minute call. It was 12:00 Georgia time.
My baby boy left yesterday from Fort Lee. Their flight was cancelled but they caught a new one. Received the scripted call at 1am. He sounded tired but excited a the same time. Now we wait.
Our Daughter left yesterday from Meps in Jacksonville(we went to see her swear in) her flight to GL was at 5.15pm she was in Great spirits and she called when she arrived at the airport, they had all been given food vouchers for food there and were put in groups of 6,they went to eat at Chillis and a Gentleman on the next table picked up all their tabs(he said he had been in the Navy 6 yrs)Now when she told me that i cried! She said she had to go after sending photos from her phone(i am starting a scrapbook for her,to keep me busy)they were not allowed to use their phones on the bus ride, the next call was 9.20pm(earlier than i thought it would be!)She said her phone would be packed in the box with her clothes today and sent and she would call again in 2 weeks!I know she is still up and busy since waking yesterday morning forMeps at 4am but as i told her the time will fly by and she made alot of new good friends on the beginning of her new adventure i am so very proud of her! It was also so nice to meet other Navy 4 Moms at Meps,we are a great Navy Family(hope to see you all at Graduation!)
