Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of January (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!
If you have January ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in January, ...then this is the place to be. :-)
Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)
Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones) Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.
***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.
Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.
The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.
After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc.Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Today I saw the beginning of a stronger more confident almost man get on his plane to Chicago for BC. We are so proud. I'm doing ok for now. Waiting for my call.

correachica, yes, that is the most likely date for PIR for those arriving this week. Some arriving today may be in the 03/15/2013 TG and you won't know the date for certain until you get the form letter. Join Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and check out Arrival and What Happens at the RTC and also check out the other Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) a few at a time.

Just like Laxer1031mom my son also left today the 22nd. at 12:30 P.M. on the bus. His girlfriend and I attended MEPS all day from 5:45 A.M. to when he left on the bus. I was happy to be with him, hugged and kissed him, it felt like a 100 times. Cried during the ceremony, when he left on the bus and the car ride home. I'm happy and exhausted. The MEPS staff was great and very helpful. I felt they did a lot to put my mind at ease with all the info I received about his travel from here to BC. Now just waiting for his call home. Putting my cell phone in my pocket and under my pillow when I go to bed. His told me his PIR will be 3/22/13.

Laxer1031mom, You will receive your SR's very quick call within the next 4 hours so keep your phone handy, even when you go to the bathroom! That call will be maybe 15 seconds. Try to not take a shower or get involved in something that may make you miss that call. My daughter arrived at 8:30 pm our time and we got our "I'm Here" call at 11:30 pm. You really won't get a chance to ask any questions. It's a scripted call letting you know he's there, expect a box and a letter in the next few days--gotta go, bye! Just be sure to tell him You Love Him!!

DaltonsMom, if your Sailor has to go back to his ship, you can wait in the NEX or in the Museum for him. Some do have to go back to the ship and others don't. What will his rating (job/specialty) be? If he stays at GL for "A" School, you will want to go back to your hotel or go eat and wait for him to call you.

My son left today the 22nd I was glad I attended the swearing in but it was emotionally difficult to see the bus pull away and the last hug I was able to give him.i know that he is excited and that this is what he has wanted to do with his life for awhile.i came home and laid down in his bed hugged his pillow and just cried I hope the emotional dollar coated gets easier over the next few days.i got a text about 30 min or so ago that he arrived safely in Chicago now the wait has begun for the phone call did anyone else on here have Simone leave today would love to have some people to talk too
