For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of January (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!
If you have January ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in January, ...then this is the place to be. :-)
Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)
Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones) Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.
***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.
Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.
The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.
After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc.Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

hi mom it's me Matt, I am here, expect a box in a week and a letter soon I gotta go byeI think that is pretty much the same call we all got at some point...it is hard when they sound so rushed and scared and they have an RDC right in front of them as they speak....it is ok to get emotional, but he is growing and so are you....and your among friends here so try to take a deep breath and relax

Welcome to this awesome journey. You may want to join, or at least check out, Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones), PIR Reference Information, and New Members Stop Here. Once you know your SR’s PIR date and/or division number, watch in Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and/or at http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/topics/groups-listed-by-pir-date and join the group for that once it has been created. There will be a lot of great information and support for you in those groups. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions within the groups. Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what is happening, but you will also want to check out the other Pages in all of the groups, especially OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes To Your Profile).

I just got my first call from my son, it was obviously the scripted call to tell me that he got there safely. Can anyone tell me what exactly did he say? He spoke so quick, I heard" Mom, its me Matt........bye. He sounded scared! I haven't cried much since he left, because I really think this will be good for him- but this call from him really got to me!

Tears of joy will soon fill those dry eyes I am sure...:) In 1 more day, we get to knock another Friday off the calendar...:) Thats is another day/week behind us and closer to the goal. I think I did more crying reading posts on this site before my SR even left, so I am getting way better bout the light at the end of the tunnel. It is so awesome to have so many wonderful supportive people who have or are now walking in our shoes and understand the waves of emotions...Tomorrow is better then yesterday but not quite as good as the next day coming...eyes on the prize

AlecsMom- today is the first day I haven't cried either. Feel proud! We have made it through the first week, and I think that was the hardest part. My husband also left the ninth, so there's a chance they may even be in the same graduation! Hopefully we all will get our forum letters soon :)

I'm rejoicing with you BoomerSoonerMomma, I will take all the support I can get! My husband and youngest son are at baseball practice and I've been glued tot his website for 3 hours.....I'm addicted. I too have been writing and the address can't come soon enough! I will be watching for you guys (I actually sent friend requests) and I will post information as I get too. Stay strong Navy Moms!!

Loving my surprise gift made by a good friend of mine( my new profile pic)....yes it is the car window decal cling I swore I would never put on any car...but she did it with such amazing detail on my Firefighter hubby, me, my IT tech son, my daughter who passed away, and my new SR !!! And yes I put it on my car and Yes I am super proud!!! What a sweet personal and thoughtful thing for her to send me!! Now how to tell her I already am having people requesting her to make their's...I did send her a message, we shall see..:)

Whoooohooo 1/14 support group - AirForce/Navy Mom, Cathycoachmom, NicksmomWendy, lulu, and BoomerSoonerMomma. I am already stalking the mailman and completely addicted (like others) to this site. I will post any information I get as soon as I get it and I'll be looking for your post about any information you receive. Almost 1 Friday down. I'm busy writing letters and just chompin' at the bit to get the address :-)
