Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of January (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have January ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in January, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

I got the sweetest surprise tonight, my SR called!  Ok so it was less than 3 minutes, needed his bank information, apparently they needed more than we sent. He could not really talk, but he sounded good, strong....I did get to ask if all was going well and he said yes.  I got to to tell him I loved him, that was about it.  Even as short as it was, it was soooo good to hear his voice.

My son is supposed to go to the recruiter Tuesday and MEPS on Wednesday.  I'm a little concerned about his weight...he has always been "stocky" growing up-even when he was in his top shape for football he was "stocky".  Currently he is 6 feet tall and weighs 216.  Is that too much?  I've been trying to find weight restrictions/requirements and I can't find anything.  He says his recruiter said that he should be fine but I was wondering if anyone on here had any info. Thanks!

aww all these going away parties sound so sweet....My Son did not want one, so we just did the family thing before he left.  Yes MartiB...There is a chance I suppose that they will eventually meetup at some point!!  Parts of me wish he were still here and in College, the other part is so proud of his decision and Career path...I am counting down...8 more weeks (hopefully)

We had our son's "Anchor's Away" party last night. It was a complete surprise for him. When he and his girlfriend got here, we had "Anchors Aweigh" playing on the surround sound, nd all of his friends were lined up saluting. It was great. Today is some family time and tomorrow morning we leave to make the 5 hour drive to MEPS. Hopefully his plane will leave early enough on Tuesday that we can go to the airport before we make the snowy trek back over the mountains.

Hi Kylesmom my daughter is also AECF, she doesn't leave until the end of this month but our kids could have some classes together in A school.  Not sure how all that works but she is just a couple of weeks behind your son.  I think when they finish BC, they will have about 9 weeks of ATT school before going to A school.  So glad you heard from your son finally.

AirForce/NavyMom sounds like a great party.  we have a similar party planned for next week except it will be at our home.  When is your's leaving?  I liked the Youtube video.  I have two tvs and will show Down Periscope on one and have youtube navy videos on the other one (one of the tvs is a smart tv and has the youtube ap on it).  Nice that you have access to WII, I know your SR & his friends liked that.

How is everyone. I have a husband that just left on January 9. He called when he arrived at about 11:59 pm and the call lasted for 26 seconds. Hopefully this week I will receive the box and hopefully the form letter so I can know for sure when he graduates. From what i've seen on here, looks like he'll be graduating March 8th! I'm looking forward to going to PIR and so are our girls. They really miss their dad. Luckily for A and C school he will be down in Pensacola, Florida which is great for us because we live in Florida and that's about three hours away from us. So, I thought I would introduce myself so hopefully I'll get to meet some of you all when I fly up for PIR!
