Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of January (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!
If you have January ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in January, ...then this is the place to be. :-)
Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)
Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones) Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.
Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.
The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.
After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.
Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)
**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Hello!
We will be looking for the mom/wife/GF etc. who will be interested in creating the 03/09/2012 PIR group. This most likely will be a "mom" who's recruit arrived at BC between 01/12 - 01/17...give or take...there are no exacts.
New TG’s are posted on RTC website on Mondays (unless there is a Federal Holiday then it is Tuesday). We should know tomorrow how many Divisions and there numbers are in the 03/02/2012 TG.
BC can be anywhere from 7.5 to 9 weeks. It is also possible for recruits to arrive in the same week…or day…but have different PIR dates. Your recruiter may have your recruit’s ship/division as early as 72 hours after arriving at BC. I will take this ship/div # for the purpose of starting a PIR group BUT please wait for the form letter that your recruit will send home to address your mail and send it. The address your recruiter gets oftentimes is incomplete or has too much information that is not necessary for the address.
Ladies, if it is something you think you'd be interested in...Friend me, send me a message and get details.
Thank You!
Here are the current PIR groups:
NONE on February 24, 2012 per Recruit Training Command
PIR: Feb 17, 2012 TG 13 - 07 Divisions (069–074 & 913)
PIR: Feb 10, 2012 TG 12 - 11 Divisions (061–068, 805, 806 & 912)
PIR: Feb 3, 2012 TG 11 - 10 Divisions (053–060, 804 & 911)
PIR: Jan 27, 2012 TG 10 - 7 Divisions (047 - 052 & 910)
PIR: Jan 20, 2012 TG 09 - 5 Divisions (043–046 & 909)
Clickable links.
**Note: PIR 03/02/2012 will be updated tomorrow when RTC posts the information.
My son leaves for MEPs tomorrow morning ( three hours north of us ), and leaves for GL Wednesday. Gonna be an interesting time for us. Glad his recruiter told me about this site. I also found Navydads and NavyDEP for additional reading. What a great resource for us parents. I'm proud of my son and can't wait to hear how BC is! He seems calm about all this, while myself and his mom read everything to get an idea of what he's going to experience.
My son left for boot camp on Jan 9.. He called tht nite for like 15 seconds and we received his box of clothes on 1/13. We have yet to get another call from him.. we are eager to hear his voice! We hope he can call soon!
Thank you! I do think the text was my "last call".
Just to add to Jessica's great post here are a couple of items from the NavyDEP.com site that Craig (retired Navy) is on. He is on this site also. His main interest is helping DEPpers get prepared for BC.( It is a great site to get on for the DEPpers)
Here is a chart that has some of the things to memorize that Jessica mentioned:
What Happens at Boot Camp-Day-per-Day? (up to week six) (*Note...BC is 7.5 to 9 weeks. about a week of "P" days (Processing days, 6 weeks of training and the last wek is for Battlestations 21...their Final Test and then PIR.)
annemaria66 - Not exactly like yours but something similar...My son went in March of last year. When he arrived at the airport he called from his cell and we chatted briefly. He got something to eat then called back later...still from the airport and said it was his last call. I sad,"Are you sure...you're supposed to be able to call from RTC?" He said, "No, they said...'last call'...gotta go." "I love you". "Love you too"...click.
I waited up anyways...it never came.
BUT, his Chief was really cool and had him call on Sunday for his "I'm here" call. (He arrived on a Tuesday). I missed it as I did not expect it! He left a message. Called BACK on Tuesday and we spoke. He called AGAIN on Thursday for security clearance info. By that time...silly as it sounds...I was ready for "no news is good news"...the calls were starting to freak me out that early into BC! LOL
Now, will this happen to you? ...don't know...nothing is a guarantee. Each RDC (Recruit Division Commanders...your SR's trainers) is different.
Your sons text may be considered his "call"...what with the delays...but he is there and starting on his Navy life!
