While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of January (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!
If you have January ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in January, ...then this is the place to be. :-)
Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)
Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones) Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.
***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.
Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.
The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.
After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc.Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Ericsmom and monicadelarosa, my son reports to the recruiter tomorrow and also leaves on the 11th, from Columbus Ohio. I'm so glad I found this site! I've been lurking for about 6 months, ever since he signed the papers to enlist. It's finally time for basic to start and I can't even explain the crazy rollercoaster of emotions that I've been going through!!

My son also leaves on Jan 10 from Houston, Tx. I'm excited for him but we are going to miss him so much. Glad I found this site to keep me in the loop of what's going on.

We had Eric's party last night and it went very well. He had a great time with friends and family all together. I did pretty well myself, only crying twice. Once during the slideshow I had put together of his life thus far, and once with a friend that has a son in the Army, currently in the Middle East.
Cathie, I know how you feel. I have spent a lot of time reading on the site, and have learned a ton of great info, but I haven't found anyone with with a son or daughter leaving at the same time. Eric leaves January 10th.
Tomorrow we have to bring him to the recruiter so he can bring him over to MEPS. We hope to see him sworn in on Tues and spend some time with him at the airport before he leaves, but we will have to wait and see.

Hello ladies,
I feel like I have been perusing this site now for ever and I have just recently discovered it! I love it and it is soooo helpful. I only wish I could find another mom who has a son or daughter leaving at the same time for boot camp. My son leaves on January 30th. We just had his going away party last night and he got his bible and medallion blessed today. The priest blessed him too! We are counting down the days now!!

PIR 03/02/2012 group UPDATE
If this has been something you have been thinking about I am asking you to hold off so we don't have duplicate groups. I have a mom as of right now (waiting on PIR date confirmation) but will still take a friend request (I'll ALWAYS look at those anytime!) with a private message from anyone interested and just put you in line in case hers is a later date!
Please be patient ladies...stay on here and keep reporting in with your Ship/DIV numbers and PIR dates! Thank you for your help!

Hello!
We will be looking for the mom/wife/GF etc. who will be interested in creating the 03/02/2012 PIR group.
This next Training Group starts with Division 075 and will have the performing division of 914. So if you get that info either in your form letter or from your recruiter that would help.
New TG’s are posted on RTC website on Mondays (unless there is a Federal Holiday then it is Tuesday).
BC can be anywhere from 7.5 to 9 weeks. It is also possible for recruits to arrive in the same week…or day…but have different PIR dates. Your recruiter may have your recruit’s ship/division as early as 72 hours after arriving at BC. I will take this ship/div # for the purpose of starting a PIR group BUT please wait for the form letter that your recruit will send home to address your mail and send it. The address your recruiter gets oftentimes is incomplete or has too much information that is not necessary for the address.

You're doing great ladies...all of you!
I didn't cry as much either when mine went 9 months ago....but mine was 22 when he enlisted...so I just think I was "ready".
HOWEVER...when my 18 year old just TOLD me he wanted to enlist (not sure which branch yet...he will get some junior college under his belt first)...I cried all weekend! It didn't help any that we went to our Homeschool meeting kick off that very night and they showed the video montage of the Seniors. I guess God knew I needed a good cry to get it out of my system. LOL
I am very proud of him though! Just not as ready to let him go!
Today I got to see my two reservists in their uniforms together. Seabee son in his NSU's (leaving for his first drill weekend) and AF Hubby(coming home from a duty day) in his ABU's. ((Happy sigh))
