Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of January (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have January ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in January, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

I finally heard from  my son. He's still in processing for some reason. He's doing fine and told me not to worry. So hopefully he will get thru processing soon and be on his way to BC. LOL I don't know if thats a good thing or not...lol..he's going to be so tired by the time he gets there, just from sitting around since Sunday. It was good to hear from him though and it really set my mind at ease just to know he was ok.

YAY to all of you that have received your calls. For those of you still waiting...it will come. Like I said, mine came at 1am Chicago time. Hang in there everyone. We made it through our sons/daughters leaving!!! Now that is a cause for celebration as they have started their new life. :)

K-town - I've got my first "letter" done inside a funny, thinking of you card.  Our family love to share funny cards - hope the yellow envelope doesn't cause grief - I may have to figure out a different mailing option for the cards!

I had asked Kurt if it would be easier if all of us didn't hang around waiting with him, but he wanted us to stay.  His flight took off at 1719 hrs and we left him at 1530 hrs.  I'm hoping he finally ate something.  He's been a bag of nerves for the past several days he hasn't really eaten much.

Codysmom - we asked the recruiter this specific question (the life of divorced parents and big families).  He told us that the 4 tickets are 4 floor tickets (seats), others can go they may just not have a designated seat.  He also mentioned that if not all seats are filled at the start of the graduation then those standing may fill in the seats.

One question that I have is: Does anyone know, or have a guesstimate, as to how many SRs are in each graduating division?

My daughter left today as well, she has texted me several times.  She should be landing in Chicago in the next 2 hours and then the fun begins.  Now that we kind of have a date for PIR it is getting more exciting for me and I know for you other parents.  Her fiancee just graduated BC and is doing school in Connecticut.  I think he is having just as hard of a time as we are.  Kind of funny how that works;  So who is going to creat the group?  And when we all figure out what division they are in, then we can get busy making plans.  It is kind of exciting now when you think about it.  I still can't go into her room yet, she has left a box for me and said do not open until after 1700 on 1/19/11.  My hubby knows what is in it and he suggested I wait until the weekend to open it.  I guess it will be another emotional breakdown.  So, I will keep you all posted with all of that.  Okay, I am waiting on her phone call from GL, so I will close here and keep that phone near by.  God Bless all of YOU and our wonderful children and or spouses.

Thanks Beth for the picture!  I also keep wondering what he is doing...wondering if he will get to sleep tonight? I'm sure he is pretty tired after being up all last night.

Codysmom....We had the same discussion on our PIR 2/11/11 group several weeks ago.

Children under 12 are not put on the list because they don't count as an adult.  So if you have anyone under 12 they don't need to be on the list as a count.  If you have more than 4 you can ask your SR if he knows a shipmate who isn't going to be having 4 people come.  If your SR gets his name those people can be put under that SR name.  The other option is after everyone that is on the list is seated and 15 minutes before PIR starts there are seats available, they will start seating those "extra" people.
