Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of January (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!
If you have January ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in January, ...then this is the place to be. :-)
Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)
Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones) Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.
Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.
The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.
After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.
Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)
**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Holly- definitely call RTC mailroom! I hadn’t received my sons box either after 2 weeks I called & verified it was sent to me & the correct address & got the tracking number. You can then track it with Fed Ex. My package was signed for by someone not at my home! Finally, after a lot of work, Fed Ex was able to GPS locate where driver had it signed for & I just got it from a neighbor tonight! 10 days of me working on this has paid off!
i have never been so happy to see dirty clothes in my life!
The phone was not in any pockets or in his shoes. The phone, charger and the Navy bag that he carried his stuff in did not come home. The plan had been that his clothes would be donated or thrown away and that is all that came home. I am thinking they must have thrown out the phone instead. We will see when I get to talk to him! Just hoping he is doing OK!
Holly - Call the Mail Room at RTC at 847-578-6227. They may be able to tell you where the box was sent. They will have the tracking number. It's possible it got returned to RTC for some reason - if it did your SR should have been notified and will have the option to resend it at their expense.
She took her phone and no she wouldn't have sent it to anyone else
NurseNancy - the phone should have been there as they aren't allowed to keep them. Did you check all the pockets of his clothes and look in his shoes?
Is it possible that your SR may have sent the box to someone else?
The other thing is - did she take her phone with her? Sometimes if they don't have anything to send home they might not send the box - they might just donate or throw away if it was just clothing. Of course, if she took her phone then that's probably not the case!
Still find it odd that others have gotten theirs and I have not. is there any way of tracking it or to have someone look into it?
The box usually arrives within a few days but can take up to a couple of weeks. I'm wondering if it could be delayed with all the crazy weather that we are having.....
My Daughter left for Boot camp on January 15 and I still have not received her box. When should I start to be concerned about the box?
And be sure to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones). And once you know your SR's PIR be sure to join that group too ;-D
