Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Any other DEPS July 29 Moms out there?
My son just signed a new contract for Rescue Swimming and got his BC changed to July 29.
Just wondering if any one else is leaving that day?
Also any other Rescue Swimming of Special Ops moms with kids leaving in July for BC?

dobimom, I just realized we have several things in common not only are our sons leaving for BC same day but since they are both Special Ops. They will most likely end up in the same 800 unit at BC since there are usually only 1 or sometimes 2 of those units at a time. And I am also a nurse.(Oncology). Would like to hear more about you and your son.

Hi navymom328, glad to hear about your daughter. What job is she going to do? Is she a DEP right now?With all this bad weather we've all been having I am glad that ours are going to bootcamp in the summer. Would like to hear more about you and your daughter. My son is my baby :) he has an older sister in college.
This is my first experience with the Millitary so I am just trying to learn everything I can. Lots of helpful info on this site.

My daughter is going in as hospital corpsman. She has been a DEP since last July. She is my oldest my DS just started kindergarten this year so I have both sides of the spectrum in my life right now. There are days that are good and days that are bad. Knowing that she has 158 days before she leaves my nest I am starting to stop take little things for granted. I am realizing now that after she leaves I won't hear her randomly belt out Frank Sinatra, Nora Jones, Michael Buble, etc from the other room. The little nose kisses that she gives me when she is at her goofiest! The drives to and from swim team practice, and our random no sense making conversations won't be able to happen as often. She and I have always had a special bond. There was a time in our lives when it was just the two of us, and can honestly say because of that our connection is even closer. So when she leaves I know I cannot promise her that I won't cry. No matter how strong I try to act. This is my first experience as well with the Military, and I couldn't be more proud of her decision. It isn't the acceptance part that I am having trouble with. It is the realization that she won't be there all the time for our talks like she is now.

Navymom328 You have so many of the same feelings I have Very Proud Yet sad at the same time. I too am counting yet appreciating the days till BC. Me and my son are very close and can talk about anything. He comes to me before his dad for advice I try to teach, understand and remember when I was his age. He turns 18 tomorrow. He wants a waterproof IPOD and Earbuds for his BDay so he can listen to music while working on his swimming. I see your daughter is a swimmer has she every considered trying to test for the Rescue Swimmming?
And is she interested in HealthCare being she will be a Hospital Corpsman?
Just curious since I'm a nurse.

Almost six years ago her brother was in the NICU and since then she has wanted to be involved in healthcare. Her recruiter has already spoken to her about also considering rescue swimmer, but being that she is not a fan of running into a shark in the ocean she would prefer not!! LOL My daughter wants the same thing she turns 18 the end of March. Her swim coach is bringing her earphones in for her to try them out before we purchase to see if they are worth it.

We found the whole set earphones and IPOD online for $160 I'll let you know once my son tries them out what he thinks.
Thats great about your daughter and healthcare(great field to get into)
Also LOL I didn't even think about the shark thing.
But as I have checked into the Rescue Swimmimg N4M site. They really don't spend a lot of time in the water they are mostly on the helicopters

She actually spoke to her recruiter today about finding out about the rescue swimmer thing. She apparently looked into it while were at her swim meet, and her recruiter is going to look into it because there is a position for being a swimming trainer. Even if they are in the helicopter I think that she will always have that thought of what is swimming around her if she has to jump in! Can't say I blame her!!! LOL

Sounds like they could really use Swim trainers in both RSS and NACCS and if she took that path she would most likely be based in Pensacola. (a great place for parents to travel in the Winter lol :))
Let me know what she hears. My son is taking another PST (Physical Screening Test) today. I always like to hear his outcome. He always tries to improve his scores each time.
