Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of July(although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!
If you have July ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in July, ...then this is the place to be. :-)
Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones) Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.
***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.
Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.
The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.
After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc.Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

My daughter leaves on July 9th! She enlisted last June after completing her junior year of high school. I can't believe how soon Monday is!

My daughter just came back from MEPS. Her ship date is in less than two weeks, on July 11. It just doesn’t seem like enough time! I envy all of you moms who had months to prepare for this!

If you have not yet joined Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones), now is a good time to do so and to begin checking out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) starting with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (some of you have changes that you need to make--at least change 3) and then go on to Arrival and What Happens at the RTC.

EMMom that is understandable, I can believe that,when we went to take my Son back to SD and my Husband wanted to find a place over there, (Son on Coronado) I couldnt believe the rent and sqre. footage. I was floored. so I guess there is no getting a place there. Nothing wrong with being a single parent I was raised by one myself and I have the upmost respect for all mothers who are in that situation. Didnt mean anything wrong so I apologize. I was just curious as to why is she packing sounded like she was not coming back......Hoping she gets stationed close, I really lucked out that my Son did get put close, well 5 hours away but that is closer than most. Wishing your Daughter all the best! she will get to see some really nice places as her Journey continues on.

EMMom Packing her room? isnt she going to be visiting on the times she can. I re did my Sons room so he knows he has a place to come back too. that does sound to real for me. I want to welcome you to Navy Moms and Congratulate your Daughter for making this Stand. My Son will be in a year july 5th. and let me tell you I was a total mess when he left. Just want you to know you are not alone and make sure you please reach out if you have any questions. I help out on Boot Camp Moms so please come join as well.

Jodi, yes, you are correct. By counting nine Fridays, PIR is most likely 09/14/2018 for those who ship on 07/18/2018. It could be the week after if your recruit is held over for the next week's TG (possible in the summer due to the large number of recruits who ship in the summer as well as storms this time of year). It is possible for some who arrive on the same date to have PIR a week apart. Wait on The Form Letter, which now arrives 9 to 14 business days after the recruit's arrival at the RTC in most cases, to know the PIR date for sure.
Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what will soon be happening and what to expect.

To guesstimate the PIR date, count 9 Fridays, after your recruit arrived, including the Friday of the week that your recruit arrives at the RTC, to get the most likely PIR (graduation) date,
