Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of July(although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have July ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in July, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves

(Click on the link)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Hi everyone,

My son arrived on 7/25. I got the 10 second call and now just waiting. This is way harder than I thought it would be. I'm so proud and sad at the same time. This site has been great, I've been reading what they are doing so I feel some kind of cinnection, I just wish I could talk to him. I've cried every day.

I am looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Nina~ if you are on good terms with the recruiter he can probably get you the address. My daughters recruiter said he'd have it for me in a few days. I'm getting ready to check in with him today to see if I can get her address so I can start sending her letters. As far as I hear I do not believe that they give them stamps but I think they can purchase them there at a little store they have. I'm a rookie at this too but this is what I have read and heard from others. Good luck to you and your boyfriend.

Hello Everyone!

MamaLamaDingDong will be starting the 09/14/2012 PIR group tomorrow sometime. As soon as it is up one of us will post the link.

If this has been something you have been thinking about I am asking you to hold off so we don't have duplicate groups.

Please be patient ladies...stay on here and keep reporting in with your Ship/DIV numbers and PIR dates! Thank you for your help!

Navy Mom - Thank you for that! Now I can have the mom who has been waiting go ahead and start it...

Ooops...she got her letter today...yay!

PIR 09/14/2012 will start with Div 289 and have a Performing Division of 944.

TG (Training Groups) usually start with an odd number and end in an even for the regular divisions. Performing Divisions last two numbers will coincide with the TG number. This will be the 44th TG this Fiscal Year...TG 44.

So, I'm wondering if  DIV 290 is the start of the PIR date for 9-14?

Navymom - we must have sons that are together...my son left for bc on 7/17 and got the call about the same time as you did.  Our box came Monday too. The form letter hasn't came yet...hopefully tomorrow...Son's recruiter gave us his address tho' on Friday.  So I know that he is Ship#14- uss Arizona, Div. 290.  May I ask where are you from? we are from a small town out in SW Kansas...

Hello all. I know someone asked about PIR for 9/14/12. By the way everything has happened just as it was explained or I read. My son left for boot camp 7/17 and received the scripted call at 7:30 that night. The box came Monday afternoon. The form letter came today. Ship 14. Division 290. PIR 9/14. I don't post much but wanted to say thanks to everyone for sharing. It really is helpful.
