Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of July(although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have July ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in July, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves

(Click on the link)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Yep, the July 10th is "looming" now...LOL....She seems to be ready though, ( more than mother for sure)...I think her being older, ( 28), and the fact that up until 6mo. ago, she's lived 5hrs away from home for 7yrs, will perhaps make things a little easier here...Especially for her...I still have some trepidations...I'm making her go through all the boxes she brought home 6mo. ago and we're making a lot of runs to Goodwill...She wants a fresh start and I don't have room to store her things for the next 5yrs...LOL...Then the next 2 weeks are for special times I guess...Her youngest brother is only 13, very close to his sister, and will see very little of her until after he's graduated from HS...I think that's gotten to me more than anything...That and the fact that her grandparents are 80 plus...Anyhoo's.

What are all of your kids rates??...Mine is going in as a Corpman.

My son leaves July 10th and he signed October 20th so it has been a long time coming for him but has given me lots of time to get used to my only child leaving home.  I thought I was totally prepared until we starting doing all of the things we had been planning for the month before he leaves and now I am getting anxious and a little nervous about him going.  I will miss his funny texts and notes and just miss talking to him.  I wasnt ready for the moving out part just the "going to camp" part....lol.  Its coming fast now!

KatherineA- I know how you feel. We did not grow up that way but, somehow, I feel as though I can handle it. Hope I'm right :)

My son has been in DEP since March and is leaving out of Memphis, TN July 23. Trying to prepare myself. My father was retired Navy so I grew up "in" the Navy. I am hoping that it will help me adjust to him leaving easier. I am so proud of him but so sad at the same time.

My daughter has been in DEP since Nov 4. I never thought it would come but July 17th is going to be here the next time I blink, I swear! Soo fast!

Once they get there I am assuming that even within that firs 48 hours they feed them. Hope that's correct.

My son who is 18 leaves July 2nd. Actually goes with the recruiter on the 1st than back to Atlanta on the 2nd to fly to great lakes. Has been signed up since before Thanksgiving and talking about joining since 15 so have had alot of time to "prepare" which judging by how many times I cry a week when I think about it didn't prepare me at all!  He will also be going to A-school in Great Lakes so he should be there til almost Thanksgiving. He quit his part time job May 31st so he could spend June "just being a teenager and hangin with his friends and girlfriend" so at least we have this month together. I'm so proud of him but at the same time I'm worried for him.   I guess our journey begins!
