Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of July(although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!
If you have July ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in July, ...then this is the place to be. :-)
Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves
(Click on the link)
Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones) Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.
Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.
The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.
After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.
Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)
**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Hello!!. So I picked my son's box yesterday at Fedex ship center and it was damaged, so I double checked there just to make sure his phone and charger were there he had also sent home his dep card.
Can't wait to receive the form letter!!.
I just got off the phone with Fed ex customer service no other attempts to deliver same day or weekend. Luckily I can pick up tonight, driver will be returning to fed ex location shortly and I need to be there by 6:30pm or they would re deliver Monday next week. Can't wait!!.. :)
I would call fed ex number on the slip and see if they can attempt to deliver again, I dont know if they deliver on weekends but wouldnt hurt to ask..
Went to Safeway and when I got home had a Fed ex slip on the door.. They had attempted to deliver :(
Do they normally try again that same day before heading back to facility?
I thought the earliest I would recieve the box would be Monday since he had left on 07/30.
Thanks!!... Love being apart of these new experiences with everyone.
Good Morning NavyMom18, Yes they will attempt to drop of " the Box" and it needs to be signed for they can attempted to drop it off again if you call and ask just give a specific time. 9 to 14 business days after the arrival of box the form letter should give or take arrive. I'm sure you know the changes with the form letter being sent if not I will post the sites and info. Best wishes to your Loved One and also to your Family. This could be a very overwhelming few weeks until the communicaion door opens.
The Form Letter will arrive in your regular mail around nine to fourteen business days after the recruit's arrival at the RTC since it is not mailed until the day after the recruit passes the first PFA, which is on about the fifth business day after arrival (later if the division that your recruit was tentatively placed in upon arrival did not fill until a later date). See Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) and Fitness Improvement Training (FIT).
Beebop and all...
We stayed in same hotel as my son when he left a year ago, and we will do it again when my middle son leaves next July. We had a great night with him, and had lots of good family memories. We did dinner and ice cream and just relaxed. I highly recommend it!
AJDJ, your recruit MAY or may NOT end up in the division that he was tentatively placed in upon arrival. The address in the system can be wrong up to 11 business days or more after the recruit's arrival at the RTC if the recruit failed the initial run and then passed (or failed) on the second attempt and was placed in a new division (or SEPS) or if the RTC needed to move recruits for some reason. Wait on The Form Letter, which now arrives 9 to 14 business days after the recruit's arrival, before sending letters and to know the PIR date for sure. Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what is happening and what to expect.
Check your My Page.
So glad our recruiter suggested staying at the hotel where our future sailor was staying after MEPS and day before leaving for boot camp. It was a spendy motel, but we were able to visit with him some in the evening and have dinner with him. He also was able to fully charge his phone and use his own toiletries, and drop them off at our hotel room on his way out at 4:30 the next morning on his way to MEPS/ship out. We were able to arrive at MEPS in the morning, too, and photo/film the swearing in ceremony. We also watched as they all marched off to the shuttle to head for the airport for RTC. It was a memory I wouldn't want to have missed.
Our son left on July 10th, for Basic, he graduates Sept 7, 2018 but will be staying in Great Lakes for A school as well. He is in Div 944, haven't received a phone call yet but hope to soon!
