DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Here is a calendar to keep track of when our loved ones leave for BC June 2011. Stole the idea from the Leaving in March group! I tried to go back through the site to get dates from those posted. Help me keep it updated! :)

Welcome Dansmom, Halfofmyheart and StPeteMom. You will get added soon!
Today has been a weird one. Finished helping my son with his room. I couldn't take the pictures off the wall. It's bad enough looking at bare shelves and a clean floor. And you can actually get into the closet! I won't be running out of hangers for awhile! I took my youngest shopping for Father's Day gifts and ended up spoiling him more than my husband! I guess that's part of being the youngest! I let my oldest spend the day with his GF. He just wants to have some fun before leaves.
And then he went to get his hair cut. They buzzed it Navy style! He said he wanted to get it over with now and not go through the humiliation when he got there! I had to laugh when I first saw him. He hasn't had his hair that short since he was about 6. We used to buzz their hair during the summer since it gets so hot here. Then I had to rub it! LOL! I really wanted to cry because it was like he wasn't himself anymore! Sigh!
Only 2 1/2 more days...gonna try to make the best of it. One more crawfish boil with the family, One more day of Church, One more Sunday dinner with the family (for Father's day) and then he's off to BC!
I hope I've gotten everything done that I'm supposed to get done before he goes! I'm a bit frazzeled!
Finally got my son's PIR date - August 5th. Ship 9 Division 247. It's like Christmas around here.
MidwestMom can you please change my info on the calendar.
Thanks.
Hi everyone! I think I have everyone added/updated but if I've missed you, please let me know! Keep holding each other up. ElleBee - I've found several wives and young moms like you on the forums and I keep sending them here. Even if they aren't joining in with the chats, I'm sure they are getting a lot out of your sharings.
I understand where you are coming from with the letters. I'm sure my SR has rolled his eyes more than once each letter wondering why I'm writing what I'm writing, but then again, it is news from home and if he was here, he'd have to listen to some of my mindless chatter. :) Keep the letters going. Tell him every funny thing the kids did. Oh, my daughter helped my granddaughter (3) outline her hand to color and send to my SR and she said, "Oh, so we can hold hands?!" So my daughter is telling her brother to outline his hand around hers so they can hold hands. :)
