Please add StPeteMom to June 20.  Thanks!

Welcome Dansmom, Halfofmyheart and StPeteMom. You will get added soon!

Today has been a weird one. Finished helping my son with his room. I couldn't take the pictures off the wall. It's bad enough looking at bare shelves and a clean floor. And you can actually get into the closet! I won't be running out of hangers for awhile! I took my youngest shopping for Father's Day gifts and ended up spoiling him more than my husband! I guess that's part of being the youngest! I let my oldest spend the day with his GF. He just wants to have some fun before leaves.

And then he went to get his hair cut. They buzzed it Navy style! He said he wanted to get it over with now and not go through the humiliation when he got there! I had to laugh when I first saw him. He hasn't had his hair that short since he was about 6. We used to buzz their hair during the summer since it gets so hot here. Then I had to rub it! LOL! I really wanted to cry because it was like he wasn't himself anymore! Sigh!

Only 2 1/2 more days...gonna try to make the best of it. One more crawfish boil with the family, One more day of Church, One more Sunday dinner with the family (for Father's day) and then he's off to BC!

I hope I've gotten everything done that I'm supposed to get done before he goes! I'm a bit frazzeled!

Oops...Welcome Ksam05 and BonnieRN too!
Thanks for the welcome jvptxmom!  The month of June seems to be flying by.  I can't believe my daughter will be at BC in three days.  It's hard to grasp the fact that my youngest is leaving home.  She seems ready, but I'm not so sure about Mom & Dad!
ElleBee take a deep breath, hold it, now let it out slowly.  your letters will be fine.  he'll be so glad to hear from you he won't care if you ramble, it's news from home.
Something I've learned after 20+ years of marriage, this kind of stuff makes your relationship stronger...it shows that you don't take each other for granted; your total concern is for him and his feelings. Guess what? He'll understand. After bootcamp he's going to act strangely as well and perhaps feel inadequate for having been away from you, he'll need your understanding too. This keeps you falling in love with each other for years. I promise it will be even better after you adjust and grow into your new relationship. I hope my son is fortunate enough know your husband-wouldn't that be cool?

Finally got my son's PIR date - August 5th.  Ship 9 Division 247. It's like Christmas around here.

MidwestMom can you please change my info on the calendar.

Thanks.

ElleBee - I feel so much better that I have something from him, anything is better than nothing.  He put a note on the bottom that he misses all of us, even the dog who knocks him down, and asked me to call his girlfriend and tell her how much he misses her. That in itself is huge comming from him.
hey congrats...... sounds like he is happy .... kepp us informed pls

PIR 08/05/2011

Come join us!  :-)

jvptxmom i know how you feel my son had such wonderful soft curly hair and about 2 months b4 he left he had me buzz it navy style i use to cut hair and my dads ( retired navy captain) lol i couldnt keep my hands off his head and tears from flowing was like making it a step closer to him leaving

Hi everyone!  I think I have everyone added/updated but if I've missed you, please let me know!  Keep holding each other up.  ElleBee - I've found several wives and young moms like you on the forums and I keep sending them here.  Even if they aren't joining in with the chats, I'm sure they are getting a lot out of your sharings.

I understand where you are coming from with the letters.  I'm sure my SR has rolled his eyes more than once each letter wondering why I'm writing what I'm writing, but then again, it is news from home and if he was here, he'd have to listen to some of my mindless chatter.  :)  Keep the letters going.  Tell him every funny thing the kids did.  Oh, my daughter helped my granddaughter (3) outline her hand to color and send to my SR and she said, "Oh, so we can hold hands?!"  So my daughter is telling her brother to outline his hand around hers so they can hold hands. :)
