Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of June (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have June ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in June, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Today is the day we meet with the recruiter to answer any last questions, have our final family dinner before he leaves and then bring our son to the hotel.  On to MEPS in the morning and then off to start his new adventure.  We had a party for him yesterday and I think it finally hit him that he will be leaving soon and his life will be changing.  I'm proud of the decision that he's made to join the Navy. Thanks for all the support from this group.  It's good to know there are others going through the same difficult process.

Thanks for the verse jvptxmom.  I'll add it to the list that I hope to share with him in letters. Today is the last full day with our son.  He leaves for the hotel tomorrow. Fortunately we get to take him to the hotel and take him out to eat. We'll also get to go to watch him be sworn in on Wed. morning.  I sort of feel like I'm in a fog...this is hard!  I'm thankful for you all that have been through this and for those that are going through this now!

Go.Derek, I'm am there with you! We are having our last family breakfast in about an hour. Including the girlfriend. My heart races when I think too far ahead. I can't believe this day is here!

He will leave at 12 noon to go to the recruiter's and then on to MEPS. We will meet him at the hotel this afternoon. Then on to dinner. His pick...He said lobster! LOL! I'll think I'll be okay today but I'm not so sure about tomorrow. I'm just trying to stay strong for him. I'll break down on the way home I'm sure.

I have a bible verse that I shared with him...

“Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord your God…” Isaiah 43:1-3

It gives me comfort that God is always with him and that he will take care of him!

I'll be saying alot of prayers today for everyone! I'm so proud of my son and I know he will be a great Sailor!

Today is the day.....It is early morning and I can hear my son sleeping in the next room.  Im really taking in the moment as I am appreciating hearing him "snooze".  He leaves today and it will be the last time he will be waking up in his room.  It was nice having him here.  Tommorow he will be waking up in the MEPS hotel room and I'm sure tommorow morning I'll be remembering him sleeping in his bed.  We'll be going out for breakfast this morning.  He plans on taking a VERY long shower..as he knows he won't have much time for that in bootcamp.  We are having lobster tails for lunch and then I will be dropping him off at the recruiters around 1:00.  He has been excited about going and I have been excited for him as well.  I pray that we all stay strong...and if we start to slip, just remember how excited they were.  They will be making a great future for themselves.

Well, tomorrow is the beginning of our new adventure. The recruiter will be here tomorrow around noon to pick up my son. He'll leave out Tuesday for GL. Ready or not...he's on his way! I'll be thinking of all the one's leaving out this week and praying for the strength to get us through and the peace to know it will all be okay!

Hi All!  We had our going away party last night for my SR, it was a huge success and lots of fun.  He picked all his fav foods, chili dogs, hot wings, jalapeno poppers(my home made ones) and his grandma's cheese dip in the crock pot.  Funny everyone loved the menu.  Soo, then he and his friends went on to the after party, he arrived home I don't know when..... in not too good shape and is now up going golfing with his dad and grandpa, so ladies no worries on the sleep dep, these crazy kids are exactly that, crazy - and do stuff that I am sure we never want to know about.  They are in good hands and will do just fine.  My first SR said the first week was the hardest but from them yelling in your face and calling you names for no reason (there is a reason).  He was a good kid going in and only 18 yrs old, but at PIR he was so much more mature, it was amazing.  I am so excited to see my oldest at his PIR and how he will change.  It is soooooo much harder on us than them!!!
