Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of June (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have June ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in June, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

TAT'sMom, when did your son leave?

HiMom88, I used sandbox recently. I'm waiting and hoping my son will let me know what he thinks of it. The app is easy but I could only send one pic.

jennifer - OMG I thought I was the only one who had a box in the corner that I can't seem to empty.  My husband keeps asking when I'm going to wash his clothes.  LOL!  He thinks I'm being lazy but I just can't bring myself to empty it yet. Maybe after I hear his voice.  Has anyone out there used the Sandboxx app to send them letters?

Tracy1120...I'm with you. Totally not productive! Not sure what to do with myself. All 4 kids pretty much gone. 1 left who is a senior now but she is out and about. Its strange. Plus you can't just pick up the phone and call our SR's. Maybe we all should have had more kids! Tee hee...tee hee...just kidding. My box is in the same spot because I can't empty it until I see him. Silly for sure.

himom88, Wow, thanks so much for the info on USPS!!  Keep us updated on when you get a phone call. I've been wondering if it will fall on a Sunday.  I just keep walking around my house wishing kids were still with me. It's very hard, but just another stage of life. Hugs to all of you mommas!! :)

Hang in there. The hardest was the first week when we didn't hear anything. But then the box came followed by the form letter. My son left on June 20th so it looks like we are a week ahead of you Marchella and Tracy1120. Everyone says that no news is good news so I keep telling myself that. The best thing that I did was sign up for informed delivery with the USPS. They send a snapshot to your email address of the letters that you will be receiving that day. Best of all it is free. You just need to creat an account with them. Also it takes a couple of days to get it "connected". The first notification I got included the snapshot of my son's form letter. Sat there and cried. I could already see a change in him. His handwriting used to be a disaster and the letter was in all caps which I know they require and it was neat! Now we are waiting for his personal letters and hopefully a phone call.

This was my youngest that left, we are such a close family I literally felt broken when he left, I know that sounds dramatic- at times I would tell myself to snap out of it but its how I felt. I am getting better, on a positive note this Friday is Friday #2, I have found that counting Fridays seems to be easier than thinking weeks. I am guessing our kids PIR date will be Aug 25, thats 9 Fridays but wont know for sure til we get that letter.

Marchella, oh me too.  My daughter is the oldest (22) and my son is 20.  He moved out and into his first apartment exactly a week before my daughter left for BC.  We have only one 15 year old left.  This empty nester thing is TERRIBLE.  I've been a hot mess, my poor husband. ;) Crying daily, yesterday was pretty rough.  I just wish I knew how she was doing.  I think that's the hardest part.

Tracy1120 Yes my son left on the 28th as well, got his box today hoping for the letter by Friday. This site has helped me so much every day- I have been a mess and this has helped so much

Hello everyone!  I'm a newbie to the site.  My daughter left on June 28th and I just got her box delivered today.  I was sad because I thought the letter with her mailing address would be in the box. :(  After reading around on this site and FB, I see that the letter comes separate.  Anyone else with a son or daughter that left on the 28th?  This site is just wonderful and has so much information.  I'm hoping it will help me during this time.
