Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of June (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have June ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in June, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

USNavyMom, it's so nice that you had time together that last day and night. We also got to take my son to the hotel and spend time with him after he checked in.  That was last Monday, June 6th.  You are allowed to go to the swearing in ceremony which should be today, so if you live close enough and can go, I really recommend it.  I found out from my son at the last minute that I could be there, and luckily I live only about 30 minutes from the MEPS facility (I guess that's what it is)  so I was able to get there about 15 minutes before it started.  I'm so glad I did, plus I got to see him, talk to him, hug him and say, "good-bye" one more time right before he left.

I wish you and your son all the best and will be looking for you here and on Boot Camp Moms!

I just left my son at the hotel. His recruiter was so cool! He let me take him to the hotel to check in earlier this afternoon and then let him spend the rest of the day with us. He had to check back in at the hotel at 9:00. I just got home from there. I wasn't sure I was gonna make it home with all the bawling I been doing. :( Won't see him again til August.

Thank you all for the encouraging words. I've cried a lot, but it is a comfort knowing this is his choice, his dream! I know he'll be fine, he's in God's hands, and he's doing what he's always wanted to do. It is so helpful and encouraging hearing from other moms who have been and are now going thru the same thing. Our son has been texting us since he left with his recruiter and that also has helped. I'm sure it will be a different story tomorrow when we get that 15 second call and all communication stops, for now.  Already looking forward to PIR!! =)

Ladies, as all of your sons and daughters begin their new journey, just always remember that we are here to help.  The best support (and shoulder to cry on) will be moms who have been there and know what every single day, of this journey, feels like.  You will all be great Navy moms!  You are already halfway there by raising great soon-to-be sailors.  :)

You ladies are killing me!  Your postings just took me right back where I was last month...the waiting for the call, the box, the letter...and how time seemed to crawl during that time.  But it does move and before you know it, you will have an address and in about three weeks you'll get your first letters from them.  Those letters are WONDERFUL and LEGIBLE!  :)  And time will start to move again.  I have 24 days till I see my Sailor!  All the tears will be worth it!  Hang in there.  My prayers are with all of you!

My son was able to text me several times...keeping me updated on the trip to the airport, getting on the plane and ariving in IL. I then got his last call before they took the phone. He said I have 15 seconds to tell you I made it to BC, I love you and I will call you in 2-3 weeks! Wow! That was tough! Now I wait...like all you other moms.
