Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of June (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have June ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in June, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

We, too, had a party for our son...a combination hs grad/going away party at a friend's lakehouse w/several good friends of his for the weekend.  On the way home it became all too real to me that he will be leaving in a little over a week.  He began saying goodbye to some of his friends...very hard for him, them and us.  This year has gone by too fast!  He is our only child, and it's going to be INSTANT empty-nest-hood!!  So many people have told us that they will be praying for him....and us!!  It's going to be great to be able to get on this site and know that y'all are in the same boat!! (no pun intended!!)

monkeymind and momma'o, hope both of your families had a wonderful day today! We had our family picnic on Saturday and today our church family honored him and his best friend (who just got home from Marine BC) with special prayers and a picnic. I agree, it just thrilled my heart to see all of the love and support of so many, for our son! Friends and family are a blessing!

I've been keeping myself busy planning his picnic, making sure he has what he needs before he leaves (what little he's allowed to take with him), and that he gets everything done that needs done before he goes. 11 months ago, June 14th seemed so far away, and now it's just around the corner! I keep crying, but only because we'll miss having him around and talking to him every day! This is what he has wanted to do since he was a little boy and we are so proud of him and excited for him to get started!

Thank you all for the helpful information and advice! It's funny, every time we get to talking about something Navy related, I always say " Well, on Navy for Moms, ..."! Our son just laughs and shakes his head! He says I'll probably know more about what he's doing that he will!

Well wishes and prayers for all the Sailors and their families!

HANG IN THERE ALL!!!  My son left last year on the 14th to St. Louis and on the 15th for Great Lakes in the bus.   He text his friends and family all the way there!  After BC it does get better!!  Just remember to write VERY IMPORTANT and keep your phones by you at ALL TIMES.   This will be a roller coaster ride HANG ON to one another and we all make it!!   Prayers are with our future SAILORS!!! and FAMILYS!!

This was the Sunday last year that our Paster had Curtis get up in front of Church and had a special speech and prayer for him.  This was very emotional day for my husband and me.  It brings tears back to my eyes!!

God Bless You All!!!

Today is the big party! The weather is going to be perfect...that's saying a lot for Ohio. I asked my son to pack up his room yesterday too, and he did! I wasn't expecting that-it was empty-very sad. A lot of families saying goodbye this week, I'm with you all-that invisible bond of love and support ((((((Can you feel it?)))))))

We have the same thing. Sam's llittle brother (well adctually he's 5 years younger but twice as big) has taken over his room only Sam doesn't know it.  Sam's things seem to be slowly moving to the attic and Ryan and his pets are slowly creeping in. lol

bobbijk1971 - my son wanted to do it on his own also and we honored his wishes.  I was sad but if it helped him then it was worth it.
