Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of June (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have June ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in June, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Just now got this text from my boy: "Just got on the bus about to head to GL"

Has anybody got their call from their RC today ? Especially those that were diverted to St Louis.

Talked to my Jenson several times in between naps! I felt like a new mom waking up to my newborn's calls every so often in the wee hours hehehe... He called when they were about to board the plane from USO St Louis about 3:00am, called when they arrived in Chicago at about 4:00am, said they would have to stay in USO again until the bus came for them around 7 or 8am... It is about 9:30am there now & have yet to here back from him. I am excited to get my scripted call!! I'm glad & relieved to here that our kids have arrived safely & some are still enroute... What a journey for them AND US!!! I've been imagining what it is like for them & how exhausted they are and will continue to be for the next few days... Plenty of prayers will be needed for their strength & resilience!! Looking forward to reading everyone's updates... Unfortunately I will be headed to work in a few minutes but only 1/2 day today - I will have to keep my cell on standby so i don't miss his call!! Chat with you soon lovely ladies! :-)

Well, I went to MEPS to watch my son get sworn in. He was up at 3:45 and given breakfast at the Hotel there in San Antonio. Then transported the applicants to MEPS and he was there at 5a.m. I arrived about 8:15 and was able to stay with him in a nice waiting area with a TV. He, of course, was very sleepy, but I was glad I drove up to be with him. He swore in about 11:45. They were told they would be leaving MEPS by 3 or 4 to go to airport. They stayed there until 5. Plane was to depart at 6:30. It was delayed. He texted me it was going to leave at 7:15. At 9:00 the flight was cancelled and they were all taken back to the hotel. The flight will leave today. What a way to start his journey. But, the positives were MEPS staff were extremely nice, he had already made friends with applicants that were in his group, so that comforted me knowing he wasn't just sitting there all alone. They were all "in the same boat". No pun intended.

Hey y'all!!! Not much sleep, huh? I had heard from Andrew saying they were sleeping at the USO in St Louis. They will get there exhausted, I'm sure. His brother, Garrett (the Marine) just keeps laughing saying it's just like his boot camp where they were forced to stay awake. They'll be okay, one of the many stories they'll have!

I'm afraid to go to sleep because I might miss that last call. I have been texting and talking to her since she left. She said it helped her to not feel so alone. I told her I will always be ther for her anytime of the day or night. I'll sleep later.

My daughter FINALLY arrived at Chicago Airport Thursday June 19, at 3:20 am, she left Montgomery,Al. heading to BC on June 18th at 3:15 pm. Because of the bad weather in Chicago her flight was delayed twice and almost cancelled. She is now having to stay at the airport until 7:00 am when someone shows up at the USO station, the last bus left about 2 hours earlier. She is traveling with 3 other recruits. I told her to try a get a nap in but she is so exhausted she doesn't know if she can ( she is going to try). Apparently there is quite a few having to sleep at airport, some are leaving and some are arriving. Pray that they get that reserved energy once they get to BC. May God watch over and protect our loved ones.
