Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of June (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!
If you have June ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in June, ...then this is the place to be. :-)
Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link)
Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones) Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.
Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.
The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.
After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.
Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)
**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Proudcomom, yes you can help me I hope. I'm getting very nervous about my daughter Sam leaving for BC June 18. What do they really go through the first 3 weeks? She has never flown are even been in an airport, will there be other recruits taking the same flight? We live in Hoover, Al. and she will be leaving out of Montgomery, AL. Is it true that they will be awake for 2 days before she gets to sleep? I hope you get this comment, I am not sure how to navigate on this site.
Shauna so sorry to hear this. I can only imagine how frustrated and disappointed my own daughter would be if this happened. Best of luck and I hope she heals quickly and thoroughly!
Well, I will be leaving this group...too soon. My daughter broke her ankle a few weeks ago and her leave date has been pushed back to November. She's pretty bummed about it but she needs time for her ankle to properly heal. Good luck to all of you moms (and everybody else) and your SR's.
I have left info on "A" School on many of your My Pages, so check your My Page.
If I didn't and you need more info on your future Sailor's rating (job/specialty) leave a comment on my My Page with the contracted rating and I will give you info on the rating and groups to join.
Thank you for your help, so far I have got some great ideas on what I can do for my daughter. Sam leaves for BC June 18, I have found myself crying a little more when I think about it.
It's not too early to check out the discussion, Things to Do in the Last Month before Your Future Sailor Leaves for..., and to start discussing some of the things there with your future Sailor such as how to handle bad news and who will be put on the Access List....
@Shauna thank you for that. I really hope it will be a great experience for her. She needs to motivate herself to workout but besides that with the screaming that I think she will able to handle. Good luck to your daughter
nancyf I just went through all those emotions with my son and it's totally normal. My daughter also leaves June 3 and this time it will be a lot easier for me...not only because I now know what to expect but my daughter is 21 and moved away when she was 18. My neice has been in the Navy just over 3 years and absolutely loves it...she did not have a hard time in BC at all. If your daughter is mentally strong, in shape and can handle not sleeping very much, she shouldn't have any trouble with BC. One thing they told my son the day he swore in...they are going to get yelled at when they do something wrong and they are going to get yelled at when they do something right. Just don't talk back and they'll be fine. She may get homesick like most of them do but letters...lots of letters get them through. Hang in there and I don't know what I would have done without the support and advice I got from N4M.
