My son left last year about the same time. Let me tell you, you are in for one exciting year. Best advise for bootcamp send lots of letters. He also ask for puzzle pages to do in down time. I sent him all kinds of different letters. One was from the dog and a phone conversion we would have. Movie or new game system information. Be creative he said his favorite one was from the dog. Bootcamp graduation is amazing. Go if you can My sailor graduated bootcamp in May 2013 , graduated A school October 2013 and just started power beginning of January.
So great to here from you. I know this will be great for her, but not knowing all that goes on and being without her for so long is a bit hard to take right now. This site is really helping since i can read what others have to say about the different places she will be. I will find all kinds if fun things to send her. I know she loves the find the word puzzles and crosswords. Thanks for the suggestions. What is power that your soon just started??
My son leaves on March 5th for boot camp. I just realized it's only 8 weeks away. My daughter turns 21 the day before he leaves. It's a bit overwhelming. The reality just hit a few minutes ago. I'm so proud of him. This is all new and kind of scary as Mom. I have no knowledge about what's supposed to happen.
I agree. Scary but so proud of my daughter. She is so excited to go. Just hard to know that if she is not happy there is nothing we as moms can do. In reading everything so far, it seems like everyone seems happy to have joined. Good luck to your son! Hope to hear more from you while they are at bootcamp.

My son also left for boot camp on March 5, from Boston.  I just received his letter today, and he is in Ship 09 Div 159, and graduation is on May 2.  Can't wait!

Join PIR 05/02/2014 TG 25 to connect with others with loved ones training with your SR.  Divisions 159 and 160 are brother divisions and train together and will have Battle Stations-21 (BST) together, so look for others with loved ones in either division.  There will later be a discussion within that group for the two divisions.

Hello, I am a mother and a wife and I decided to join the Navy!  I ship out to boot camp on March 4th as well!

Good for you! How exciting. I know my daughter is counting the days!! I wish you the best of luck at bootcamp and after. Thank you for serving!!
Yesterday was my son's last official DEP meeting. Feeling kind of sad. It home that the month will go by very quickly. I'm so glad I can get support here too. I'm going to go to a brunch on Sunday to meet other people that have been through this. I feel like there is sooo much to do in the next few weeks. I realized my son has to be up at MEPS on my daughter's 21st birthday. Rough day for me. It's already getting harder and harder. I'm starting to cry everyday for the last couple of days. I'm going up alone for his swearing in because my daughter has to work. I hope I can hold it together. He already didn't want me to go because he didn't want me to cry. I hope he will appreciate that I was there some day.
My daughters was last night as well. In August when she enlisted it seemed like I was going to have her around for awhile but each passing month it kept feeling more real. Yesterday really hit me that that was her last meeting. I know we will feel like crying but try and do it at night and just keep telling him how proud you are of him when sending him off. You don't want him to worry about you. Sounds good anyway.... I am going to try my hardest and then just let's the tears come once I leave MEPS. I went in her room last night to kiss her goodnight and was counting the days I can still do that. I know you say your son doesn't want you to go because you will cry, but I know he really wants you there! He will appreciate it so much that day! I sure wish your daughter could go with you. Just keep on thinking about your daughters 21st birthday celebration. You two could go out after her work and unwind together. Just wanted to let you know I am thinking of you and sending a hug your way....
My son leaves March 3rd out off San Diego. It's getting so close now!
I can't believe how quickly it is going either. My daughter actually leaves on the 3rd as well, but out of Ohio. Perhaps they will meet up at the airport and go to BC together. Quite a cold winter we are having here. Hope it starts to warm up when they head out.
