Latest Activity: Jan 20

Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of March (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have March ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in March, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Anyone who lives in the VA Beach/Norfolk area. There is a group of us planning on meeting one day for lunch (shooting for Thursday) the last week of April. I will be there that week for spring break. We would love to meet as many other moms/families etc as possible for lunch one day. If you have a sailor or recruit in that area and they could possibly join us that would be awesome. If you are in that area and would like to join us please let me know. Send me a private message with your name and number. We will keep the time and place in private messages as well. Thanks, Lora

MaggieJoan - I have an AMAZING mil (no she isn't on here lol) and I think you are right about learning from what your mil was like, it shapes how you will be.  I'm blessed, thankfully and it sounds like your "girls" are as well!

My SR recruiter posted their addresses on their fb page himself.. so, if they aren't concerned about it, it must not be a big deal.   I dont' know what to say about that.

I have missed so much between school and the PIR group, I just wanted to say I'm still thinking of you all!

I think that is what I will do, I already have a list that I need to email with the address.  Cmom I like the idea of a new group so we can keep in touch, these March recruits hold a special place in my heart, but as we took over this group a new group of Moms, Wives, & Girlfriends will be jumping on before we know it.

Jessica I don't have his ship/div yet.  I was going to wait until Monday to reach out to his recruiter as her last words to me was she promised to call as soon as she knew it and she has been a very good recruiter so far.

jdmom - Maybe you could post a message on his fb letting his friends know if they wanted to write to him - they should e-mail you and let you know!  Those that you know and trust give them his addy - or to those you dont know very well,  let them know if they want they can send you a e-mail letter and you can then print it to send with yours?!?!  That way he wont get anything he is not to have!!  That's what I did!!  I did e-mail family with his addy and then send them updates when I hear from him - When he called last week he wanted me to thank everyone that has sent him cards and letters - he said he LOVES getting them but feels bad that he hasn't had time to write them back - he asked me to let them all know to keep sending them but that is is sorry for not having time to write back!  He said they are still only allowed to write on Sunday's (he hopes this next week they give them Tues. and Thurs. as well) and since he is the division Chaplin - he has to 'work' on Sundays so doesn't have time to write.

WOW -so much has happened in the last few days!!

Congrats to everyone that made it thru their SR leaving!!

nytesail - Glad to hear how well things went for you and thanks for hugging your son for ALL of U.S.!!  We will all stand proud of each and every one of our gals and guys in the military!!

I just updated the calendar so eveyone should check it out and make sure I have it right!?  If I missed anyone or if you now know your numbers please post a reply so I can get updated!!  I also changed a few names - OMG - check it out!!  LOL

To those of you that have loved ones leaving this next week - stock up on those BGP's you'll need them - but just remember you have your "sisters" right here to support you!!

As I update the calendar and myself from the last few days - I find myself starting to grieve over all of us moving on (like our loved ones) to PIR groups and Job/A school groups and spending less and less time in the March group.  I have thought about starting a new group for us so that we can visit it and keep up with each other - what does everyone think?

I  will always hold our friendships close to my heart as we have been thru so many ups and downs - giggles and tears and I know it won't be long and the next March group will be coming along.  Hugs to all!!
