Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of March (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!
If you have March ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in March, ...then this is the place to be. :-)
Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)
Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones) Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.
Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.
The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.
After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.
Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)
**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

All of you are so wonderful and sweet! Knowing myself I kind of thought in about a week I should be almost back to normal, so it's good to hear you all's timelines = ) and if it takes longer, so be it. I agree it is like grieving, oddly the last time I felt this empty was when we broke up way back in 2000, I laugh now, so little did I know where we would end up. This obviously is very different with a great future ahead, but it sure feels the same. I am feeling all the cyber hugs being given out, I truly don't know what I would do with out this site!!
H and I made a deal via text today, instead of worrying about each other, he will focus on being an honor grad and I will focus on making a 4.0 this semester...as competitive as we are it will be an interesting 9 weeks for us!
I was able to hear from him twice so far since he flew out, now just for the real "I'm here" call = )
I forgot we found a diver lego guy kit/set in the Target checkout area, I bought it and made it for him and showed him today at MEPS, he's not a Navy diver but we are both divers, and to see lil' fins on the lego guy's feet and the grin on H's face was priceless!
I only got lip products from clinique! I knew that any eye products would be wasted this week! = )
Ginnibean I am sending hugs your way, I have been thinking of you all day. I know what you mean about avoiding reality, I have been doing the same for the last two days. Please just try and remember this is not forever only 8 weeks and try to worry about school for the next few weeks, it will be important. As you are writing H, which I bet you have already started, let him know we are all routing for him as mothers & wives!
To everyone who has left this week, good luck!
To all of you that left earlier this month Thank you for giving us a glimpse of how things may go, for me it helps to know what I possibly can expect.
We sent my son off today with minimal tears, I was able to hold it together until the last minute. We decided not to go to the airport because my son seemed to want to make it a clean break and it was getting too hard for both of us.
The swearing in ceremony was very nice and I am glad we went up for that. My son also text that he got into Chicago about 5 today but have not heard from him since, I will be waiting for his last call tonight.
ah thank you all sooooo much for the birthday wishes! I just got done thanking everyone on facebook, it was a nice surprise to see all the "Happy Birthday" posts on here!!
Yesterday was crazy, H woke me up with a Hello Kitty cookie cake, in bed, lol...he said he picked it up early because he knew I'd want it for breakfast, my aunt is right, that man is a saint. We then went shopping with my momma, clinique bonus time and then the Lego store...yep I'm 31 now and still love make-up and Lego's...we had lunch, did some more shopping and my mom got the girls (our dogs) treats from the doggy bakery. We had to take him to the recruiter's office and then my mom introduced me to Penzey's Spices (google them) they are amazing. We then got to spend time with H and have my "birthday dinner". H didn't sleep the night before at all and I slept like a rock, I think I was trying to avoid reality.
Today we were up bright and early (not so bright) and went to the federal building and hung out for well over 5 hrs, now he is on the plane to GL and I am feeling so empty and heartbroken. Everything I see reminds me of him in some way or another. This is not easy. As far as the BGP's...pssshhh I'm pretty sure in that regards I lost them sometime in the move and have gone commando every since...the tears couldn't be stopped, I even apologized for not keeping it together. H didn't expect me to at this point, I was relieved. I am pretty much a mess and am so emotionally and physically worn out I'm not so aware of anything right now.
I would be so lost without all of you, hope you all are doing well!
