Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of March (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!
If you have March ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in March, ...then this is the place to be. :-)
Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)
Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones) Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.
Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.
The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.
After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.
Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)
**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

FB accounts - No they do not have to be deactivated however as I posted earlier - with the bet that my son had with a few of his friends - he had almost 2000 friends and he really did not know but about 200 of them! They were from everywhere and were not the best people to call "friends". I also had been blocked so I could not see what he had been up too!! (he is over 18 so I didn't push the issue at the time) When I found out what he had done - and saw some of his friends that he had - with inappropriate names etc. I freaked out - I did not want his security clearance to be an issue -
There are more than one security clearances - his job requires 'Top Security' and they mean business!! Most jobs are just basic security clearance. My SR will be working with the Navy's computer Networking systems so his is very in depth!!! In fact I may delete a few of my posts about me hacking in as I do not want the security guys to think we are hiding something!! I just cleaned it up and then deactivated it - he will be able to log in after bc to do as he pleases with it.
Hope this helps!!
My daughter has an IS rating, she didn't say anything about closing her FB.. tho she left me her password, so I could post her addy.. I can always close it, if need be.
My daughter already has her security clearance. Should she deactivate her facebook account now?
Calendar is up to date!! (I think!! LOL) If I am missing anyone be sure to let me know!!
I wanted to mention about the fb hacking -
Again I do trust my son but he and a few friends had a bet to see who could 'get' the most friends before he left - and yes he won - about 2000 friends - and truth be told he only knows maybe 400?? Some had very inappropriate names and posts - that's why I felt I needed to hack into it! It wasn't easy but where there is a will there is a way!! A mama's got to do what a mama's got to do!! right?
I am feeling a little bit guilty but better safe than sorry!
Great link to questionnaire's for when they go to bc.

They may need to be tweaked to make them more personal but are great!!
Wow - congrats to everyone that made it thru thier loved one leaving - Sorry I haven't been on in a few days - but I am back!! I will catch up the calendar tomorrow! I did receive the "official" form letter - he wrote a few lines at the end of it - said boot camp S*^$S - need sleep and "moma's good food!" ( I had to laugh!) He also mentioned he got to sit and eat with ITSN 2BE during a IT - CTN meeting!! He said she is real nice and to tell me hello!! That also made me smile!! Then I got a call from my him Thursday - I was at lunch with a coworker he called my cell phone (I now do not put it down!!) -He needed more info on people for his security clearance! Of coarse I did not have it on me - so I asked if I could call back and give it to someone - he just said no - then a long pause - I asked if he could call back in an hour - again he said "no". I told him I would ask the restuarant for a phone book to try to get the info - he said he would try his father and call me right back - I told him his father was in a meeting and didn't know if he could or would answer - but ok - I no more got the phone book and of coarse it was not the right one - (wrong counties) and he called back - I asked him if there was a way for him to call later or something - he then said I could fax it to him - so he gave me the number and said to put it to Attention Dan. (he didn't say who Dan was - but guess he must be the "man:) LOL!! Dan the Man!! I went back to work and got the info and faxed it right out!! It was so good to hear his voice - at first he sounded hoarse and I asked him if he was sick - he said "no". I tried to ask questions but he would only answer short. Yes and no basicly - but at least I got to hear his voice!! I cried all that night - just thinking of him!! I then started to freak out because he had asked his friend to deactivate his fb - (he had forgot before he left and asked his friend to do it) and when I got on the night he called about the security stuff - and saw it was still there - I tried to contact his friend but he would not return my call - I trust my son completely but... I do not trust all his friends - and I don't want "the Man" thinking he is associating with riff - Raff if you know what I mean!! so, the last couple of nights I was working on Hacking into his fb account and I did it!! I checked it out and it was not as bad as I had envisioned - but I still deactivated it! Those of you who have SR that will need top security clearance be sure they deactivate their FB accounts - if they didn't - message me and I can tell you how to break in!! Again - I will work on updating the calendar tomorrow It will be so exciting to put everyone's ship and division on their names - It just makes me think we are one step closer to PIR! sorry for the long post!
Well I woke up very sad this morning and decided I was done done done. So i sent out texts to a bunch of people and I am now completely booked up with family and friends until next Friday. I got a fiction book from the library about a navy wife and her family, which I'm starting to read tonight, and they are trying to get the book "married to the military" for me.
So all in all, I'm ending this on a good note, and hopefully the box will come soon and then the form letter with my husband's address on it so I can mail out all these letters I have. I must have written him like 10 pages so far!!
