Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of March (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have March ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in March, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

@laughingchipmunk, he is feeling some better, getting a cough now.  He went to see his recruiter this morning and got a new ship date.  June 14. He is pretty down right now.  SailorMom and ShortandSassy looks like our boys will not be in the same boot camp.  I am disappointed for him, however, I am trusting  God, in that he is keeping my son here for a reason unknown to us right now.  Know that I am thinkng of you both today and tomorrow as you all have emotional days ahead.  Know that I feel your sadness and joy at the same time.  I will be right back in the saddle again in June.

Tracie - I hope your son feels better and I hope the recruiter works with you to do what's best for your son without too much delay.
Sailor Mom - We dropped our son off at the hotel tonight and had a party for him last night. I've been facing a sense of dread all day. But once we left the hotel, I suddenly feel calm. I'm sure I'll cry more tomorrow and in the weeks to come!
Wishing you and your SRs well.

I agree it is a emotional roller coaster we went through this a week ago.  I got the I arrived a scrpiped 25 sec. phone call last Tuesday at 10:00 it is horible no communication.  I am hoping we get his address soon I have already wrote him 7 pages.  But most importantly I would like to know how he is doing.    Everything I have read about boot camp sounds like they do not get any down time.

Sailor Mom, I know exactly how you feel! I have all the same feelings! To make matters worse my son got up this morning sick! Went to urgent care, he has strep! I feel so bad for him. He's been planning and preparing for this day for months. Not sure what is going to happen.
Are you going to MEPS with your son? Mine said he doesn't want us there. The emotions I have been having are now multiplied! Thinking of you! Sounds like our boys may be in the same boot camp.

Sailor mom, your emotions are normal. Before my son left for bootcamp I used to hug him every time I though about it. I just wanted to get as many hugs and I love you because I would not see him for awhile. I didn't cry at the swear in but I cried home. Now I'm a little better and I'm looking forward to PIR.

Moms, I have a question, my son started feeling bad last night, woke up this morning with a terrible sore throat. We went to urgent care...he has strep! started with 1000mg of amoxicillin twice a day. He let his recruiter know. He told him to rest and call back later. He is suppose to leave tomorrow and swear in Tuesday. I am so torn, I don't want him to not be able to go, yet I want him healthy when he does go. Anyone had similar circumstances or know what will happen?q

Thanks Tracie! I'm right there with you - trying to keep it together at work ... He leaves Monday :(
I'm so proud of him and sad at the same time. Hanging on to emotional roller coaster! Hope you hand in there too

@laughingchipmunk, I am with you!! My son leaves Tuesday 3/28. I have been an emotional mess for the last week.  I am very happy for him and excited too.  At the same time I feel so sad. I know this is a good thing and it will open so many doors for his future.  Hang in there, they will be fine and we will too! Thinking of you!

Woke up wide awake at 4am with the sudden urge to hug my son and not let him go! He doesn't even leave for a few more days. How do you do it, moms?

My son arrived at boot camp on 3/15 and his form letter arrived today! PIR is 5/13/16. So exited I can send all the letters I've written so far! Still waiting for 'the box'.
