Latest Activity: Jan 20

Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of March (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have March ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in March, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Hola Chicas!

Hey...I have two moms in line to form the PIR 05/18/2012 Group...we are just waiting for confimation. I'd really like to make sure there is a PIR that week...before forming the group on here. RTC has not yet posted the details for the PIR 05/11/2012 Group...so don't even know what the cutoff is yet as far as Divisions go.

In the meantime...stay on here...if you would like to see how a PIR group looks and or get some more info now (the Discussion Forum has lots of posts to read)...here is a link to the most current one:

Hello!

I will be looking for the mom/wife/GF etc. who will be interested in creating the next (Hopefully 05/18/2012) PIR group.

This most likely will be a "mom" who's recruit arrived to RTC this week...there are no exacts…ONLY my “guestimation”. Some of you will start receiving your form letters soon with your recruits PIR date in it.

New TG’s are usually posted on RTC website on Mondays (unless there is a Federal Holiday then it is Tuesday). Lately, it has been posted later in the week. Then back to Mondays! So you can see what I mean about no exacts.

BC can be anywhere from 7.5 to 9 weeks. It is also possible for recruits to arrive in the same week…or on the sameday…but have different PIR dates. Your recruiter may have your recruit’s ship/division as early as 72 hours after arriving at BC. I will take this ship/div # for the purpose of starting a PIR group BUT please wait for the form letter that your recruit will send home to address your mail and send it. The address your recruiter gets oftentimes is incomplete or has too much information that is not necessary for the address.

Folks, if it is something you think you'd be interested in...Friend me, send me a message and get details.

Thank You!

FTLW

This is so strange not to have my son home.  I came in from my morning walk and saw his bedroom door open and my first thought was - Wow he's up early - AND he made his bed.  Then it hit me that he's not here, but I did laugh that I'm sure he was up early and HAD made his bed.  lol!  Hope everyone has a great day!

Wow!! So excited to get the box today. He had written us a note and crumpled it up tight intp a small ball and had it in his pocket for us. Was good to hear about the airport and plane ride and the awsome sunset he saw. Thanks to all the moms that give tips that we stumbled uponbefore he left :). Since he just left Monday, I guess we will get the letter with his group and address next week. Will be glad to start sending letters.

Hi. My son swore in yesterday. We went and watched. I did well. No years until I hugged him goodbye. Pulled it together tho. Texted a lot with him waiting for his flight to Chicago. He called z d said they had landed safely. That was at 7:40. He made his 30 second call at 11:30. He sounded good but tired and passed all necessary info to me. Said he should be able to call again kn 3 weeks.

yep, my son is IT! he needed all these names and addresses for security clearance, references and address, even his passport number!! But so glad he needed all that cuz i LOVED hearing his voice:) He said they are still in P-days cuz they were waiting for 5 days for others in his group to arrive at Great Lakes.  He said PT should start today or tomorrow.  They just all got their uniforms today, up until now he said they've all been in the sweats they were given.. I asked him about the food he said its good, like cafeteria food.  He sounded wonderful!  He said he and another guy are the "mail" ppl and they were going to collect their first batch of mail this eve. So hopefully they are reading lots of letters tonight:)
