Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of March (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have March ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in March, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

@DJKines....not that I am an authority, just a mom knowing what it feels like to not know what your SR is doing. My son arrived at GL on the 8th (Thursday), we got his box on Tuesday, and then the form letter and a personal letter on Wednesday, 14th. I bet you get a letter within the next couple of days. I know it is so hard not knowing if he is okay, but I tell myself is something was wrong, then I would get a call.....a case of "no news is good news."

My son left Monday morning for boot camp.  We received his box with all his belongings yesterday.  His cell phone was also in there.  The last time we heard from him was 5:00 a.m. Tuesday morning.  It is hard not knowing what is going on with him - what stage of the process he is in - his he o.k., etc.  We were told by the recruiter that we would not hear from him for three weeks nor would we have an address to write him until then.  This is just a very long time period to not know his well being and thoughts or to just hear how he is.  It would be better if they could at least have some sort of tracking on them - Lol!  I cried when I got his box.  I miss him and worry about him and how he is doing.  This is harder than I thought.  We pray for him daily.

It gives me some comfort to know there are other Moms out there going thru the same thing!  Thanks!

Well - son just left on Tues, 13th and today his "box" came via FedEx.  I know it wasn't going to contain any note or letter, but still I eagerly ripped into the box looking and hoping....silly, but I am getting more stressed instead of less as the days pass without seeing his smile and hearing his laughter around here.  I am so excited for his adventure.  It's just that his dad and I have always been very involved with all 3 kids' activities and suddenly we are on outside with this and even the girls' college lives.  Harder than I expected it to be....I need some Pensacola time in May - I can see it coming!!!! :-)

thanks all for the sharing and commiserating - helps that you all are here and understand; not all of my friends get where my head is at right now.

Some in the 900 Division will have other duties...such as provide assistance during the ceremony being rail guards, door greeters, or working behind the scenes in the reception room where the VIPs will be.

Hello everyone... I understand Division 900 is the "performing" division, but my son does not play an instrument and has none of the other "performing" experience...just wondering what it means (if anything) that he is in that division. Many thanks for any information.

well.... hubby left for BC today! What a awesome and bittersweet felling.  I know he is doing this to better both of our lives, so now the countdown can begin for PIR once I get the letter :)  So far I have only had one breakdown, and that was at the swear-in ceremony at MEPS... THEY STARTED THE CEREMONY WITHOUT TELLING THE FAMILIES!! I happened to be walking pass the window and saw my hubby standing at attention, in the process of swearing in!!  My heart dropped, and I ran into the ceremony.. what a day! but as i said, have to stay positive to help this process go smoothly!

The elephant is finally off my chest enough so that I can check in with all my other March moms who have loved ones leaving.  Leaving him at MEPS on Tuesday was the hardest thing I have ever done.  Missing him so much.  Can't go near his bedroom; although I need to clean it.  Can't wait for the phone call in three weeks.  Does anyone know when we will receive their address so I can send my already written letters?  How is everyone else doing?
