Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of March (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!
If you have March ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in March, ...then this is the place to be. :-)
Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)
Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones) Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.
Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.
The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.
After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.
Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)
**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

We got to the recruiter's and I hopped out with my purse and he looked at me and said, "No, mom, I've got it from here." He called later and said he really would like for us to be there for his swearing-in ceremony. Yup, you guessed it, we're going! We're really missing him and it's only been 9 hours.
@ Nancy and Kim... I am right there with you. My son is at the hotel tonight also. I actually did better today than I thought I would at the recruiters office. He left with a little travel bag that will be tossed at the hotel tonight. I am kind of glad he decided to take his phone though. He called me when he got checked in tonight. Going up tomorrow for swear in. Sooo proud of him right now.
TY juliebelle!

We have not formed the 05/04/2012 PIR group yet...but I do have a couple of moms "in line"...just waiting on a confirmation that there will be PIR that date...then we will form the group!
So, if anyone has received their Form letter with a PIR date of 05/04/2012...please chime in! TY!
WHOOP WHOOP!! Kyle's old recruiter is AWESOME..He gave me the address and the letter cam today!! That makes up for the missed call!!! Ship 11 Div 132..Anyone?? HAHA
Hey all - my son is at the hotel, heading to MEPS and GL tomorrow. We will go to the airport in Nashville to see him off (he worked there with my husband until last week). He is nervous/excited and so am I. Can't believe that my son is suddenly off to the world and hopefully will come back a responsible young adult. So many changes for him and for us!
My daughter heads to boot camp on March 27th. Anyone else have that ship date?
Hi Everyone. My son left March 1st and already received my kid in a box this last week so most of you who's kid left around the 1st will probably already have it or will be getting it soon. The form letters are next and they will have PIR date as well as a note from your son or daughter. I will tell you that is like receiving gold. and then in about week 3 your first real phone call. I just went thru this with my daughter in November of last year and you really look forward to any and all information. For the moms that are still sending kids off this month brace yourself it will be hard but it does get easier. Take it one day at a time that is what I find works best for me
Tiffany - :-(...that happened to me too!
I am still looking for moms who are interested in creating the 05/04 PIR. I have one waiting for confirmation of the date. I will take the names of others who are interested. If you receive your form letter with this date and are interested...please friend me and let me know. I help get the new PIR groups going. It will probably be someone whose recruit arrived within the last week. TY! FTLW
