Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of March (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!
If you have March ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in March, ...then this is the place to be. :-)
Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)
Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones) Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.
Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.
The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.
After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.
Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)
**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Hi flgirltwo. My son leaves on March 1st. We had his going away party this past weekend. We did it as an open house (from 1 to 4pm) and had a few Navy things around the house (ie pictures of his grandfather and great-grandfather in their Navy uniforms, an American flag cake). He wanted it very low key and just wanted to hang out with his friends and family. Party ended up being a success, he had fun and people stayed into the evening. We took lots of pictures of him with his friends and family that we can print out on the letters we send him. Good luck!
Hi Nancy-Joshie'smom! I'm spending as much time with my son too! Days are going faster and faster! I'm trying to plan a going away party too. What are you doing? Navy themed? or just a get together? I'm torn. I tend to get a little (lot) "Martha-ish" and want to do it up, but my son tells me that it's not necessary and that he really doesn't care what I do. Although I feel like if I really do it up - he'll really appreciate it later. Can't decide - but I better hurry up if I am going to do a real themed party! lol!
Hi Jaimers, I am not very good with the new navy terms but know that it is very exciting he got selected for a chance at the SEALS. Congrats to your son as well. Will they be together at Great Lakes since they both ship 3/19?
Hello AnglinaRose ... My son has a an SO rate too (rate meaning job) SO > Seal Operator ... ship date is 3/19 ... Congrats to your hubby for the SO Contract. :)
Hello all, I am brand new to this site. My husband leaves for basic in March and has been selected for the SEALS and will attend BUDS after basic. WE have started the countdown..my son leaves March 5th. We are so excited for him.!!
Hi again! My son leaves for bootcamp on March 21st! It's sure coming up fast. My son is so busy studying, pt, and getting things in order! But he's been spending lots of time with me! Yeah! He knows how emotional I can get, so we've gone shopping, out to lunch, just sitting and watching tv. I am sure enjoying all the extra attention and will remember it while he's gone to GL! His contract is for Aircrewman. So thankfully A school and other will be in Pensacola - so not too far away! I do get teary, but try not to show it to him! I know watching him swear in at MEPS for the last time and him leaving for bootcamp will be a major "tissue" issue for me! haha! Love the support on this website! Thanks to everyone!
